Well, now that Motegi bought a truck I might as well "come out." I've been a closet hillbilly for a while now and I guess it's time to reveal myself to the world. I love my mazdaspeed, but dammit do I love offroading too. Is anyone else here into the truck scene, or offroading? I love modding my car, but there is a wealth of things that can be done to a truck for cheap as well (and it's much easier to work on).
Anyway, here's the beast. My friends have started calling it "the steamsicle" due to my rattle-can paintjob. It's a chevy K20, with a 350 mill, TH400 tranny, and an NP208 transfer case. The axles have 4.10 gears and right now I'm running 31 inch tires. Those will soon be replaced with a set of 40's and the necessary lifting and trimming that those tires will require. Yeah, it looks like a piece, but it's still a work in progress. It's got all new brakes, brake lines, and master cylinder, a rebuilt front axle (including all gears, bearings, seals, and joints), headers, all new exhaust, new power steering system, new charging system, new ignition, 4-point harnesses, new Warn lockout hubs, etc. I also welded the rear end solid, so there's no differential there anymore. I made the front bumper out of some old well casing, and welded in reinforcements for the rear as well. I decided to lift it the cheap and easy way by building some extended foldable shackles for the leaf springs. If anyone is interested, I'll post some pictures of these and how they work too. Here's the pics I have available:
