Offroading!

:
Titanium Speed
Well, now that Motegi bought a truck I might as well "come out." I've been a closet hillbilly for a while now and I guess it's time to reveal myself to the world. I love my mazdaspeed, but dammit do I love offroading too. Is anyone else here into the truck scene, or offroading? I love modding my car, but there is a wealth of things that can be done to a truck for cheap as well (and it's much easier to work on).

Anyway, here's the beast. My friends have started calling it "the steamsicle" due to my rattle-can paintjob. It's a chevy K20, with a 350 mill, TH400 tranny, and an NP208 transfer case. The axles have 4.10 gears and right now I'm running 31 inch tires. Those will soon be replaced with a set of 40's and the necessary lifting and trimming that those tires will require. Yeah, it looks like a piece, but it's still a work in progress. It's got all new brakes, brake lines, and master cylinder, a rebuilt front axle (including all gears, bearings, seals, and joints), headers, all new exhaust, new power steering system, new charging system, new ignition, 4-point harnesses, new Warn lockout hubs, etc. I also welded the rear end solid, so there's no differential there anymore. I made the front bumper out of some old well casing, and welded in reinforcements for the rear as well. I decided to lift it the cheap and easy way by building some extended foldable shackles for the leaf springs. If anyone is interested, I'll post some pictures of these and how they work too. Here's the pics I have available:

I had an 86' burban i got for free once... it had a 350 in... we mananged to cram some 35"s on it and proceeded to beat the piss out of it, it was some good times sayin i went mudding in one of our fields everyday... fun times....

I love offroading but I've always been shotgun, except for a few adventures in a Land Rover. Most of my buddies sold their trucks for cars though.

i love it too... never took picture and im much more of a 4wheeler. Its alot of fun... that truck is way to clean. I want to see some dirty shots.

Second that.

I don't understand people who only like certian types of cars. I'm more of the school of "if it has an engine, I like it."

i got a old '67 GMC and i am looking into getting a toyota 4x4 for some desert fun

damn straight, i love offroading, mx3 can attest to that... my car spends as much time off the road as on it... hence y i like rally... if i had a truck u can bet anything u want that it would be 4x4 lifted and running large tires... and be muddy everyday of the week...

but yes, we need dirty shots...

LOL Look what I started. I love mudding. I will admit it Im a rednack at heart nothing I can do about it. Oh well. (evil)

I miss mudding. Had a jacked up 80 mustang 4 cylinder with some snow tires on it. It did pretty damn good off road. Also, my parents have a 79 Bronco with a done 400M and 33's. That is one incredible truck.

I want to try out my sisters F250SD V10 off road....

uhh Daewoo Nubia?

heh... i had a 3.1L 93 sunbird that I took off road in a corn field after it rained... hahahhaah that was one of the best times I've had in a car. Now my friend and I use his Toyota Truck to go offroad... Trucks are fun.

looks "useful"

I don't have any offroad shots of my current toy, but I have a clean driveway shot?

89 1/2 ton Suburban... crate 350,chip, ignition, exhaust, LSD, 700R4, pro-comp 4" lift, 33x12.50x15 BFG A/Ts etc etc...

I haven't done much hardcore offroading yet, but it sure climbs over stuff well on "urban offroading" adventures

I love driving my Miata in the snow. Does that count? ;)

make sure you get yourself a good dana 60 if you want to run 40" tires.
On the Miata? J/k. But it is an interesting mental image.

^Ouch. I bet my life savings that this miata will never see mud. And that's about 27 dollars, so you know I'm serious. Anyway, I'll get you guys some "dirty pictures" next time I head out. The damn tires that I have dont' stick out of the truck enough to get it dirty, so I'll have to get into a pit or something to muddy it up. I can run through a 4 foot deep mud pit and it looks clean on the other side. I'm missing the inner fender on the driver's side, so it pretty much just fills the engine bay with mud. (pow)

I love driving anything, and the one time my aunt let me borrow her Chevy Blazer...a 97 I think, I took that thing to the bumpiest, mudiest, biggest field ever, and ran the piss outta that thing with my buddy. I must say it was fun as s***, then we hit a local access trail to the train tracks, where I almost got caught a few times with all the wheels off the ground, but with a little coaxing, we got that thing through there...boy was my aunt surprised when I brought it back with about an inch of mud on everything...hehehehehehehe, and she thought offroading meant parking in a dirt parking lot.
