BuddyClub Skirt Modding

( . )( . )

here are some pictures --- i took one for the front and rear where the screws are holding it -- later i might change to rivets so they cant be taken off by someone other than me :)

i took one for each door to show i trimmed it and one side shot --

the hardest part about trimming it is keeping a straight line -- mine are not straight since i did it free hand with a dremal --lol

so if you dont trim too far then itll still look like its under the door -- but allow it to sit closer to the car so you can use the 3m tape instead of rivets --

*edit--- thanks to t3ase for moving this from the dumpster -- i never thought info i had would be interesting or helpfull-- enjoy :)

i put this here for traitorhound --
it was easier to make a quick thread to post pics instead of going through PMs
thats why i put it here so it would bother any one :)

that thing is hella low man...watch out for potholes...unless you like picking up pieces of sideskirt...lol

thanks. . . . anything about how your had supported the underside of the fg skirt? you said with blocks of foam or whatever?

i think the buddyclub2 skirts are pretty neato looking. . . .not as cool as MB or the erebuni knockoff. . but its different from all that other stuff. . . .i like it

ok here is a qiuck picture to give an idea of what you could do --- for experimental purposes i just used what i had handy at the time --
i dont think this will be needed but it makes hella more sturdy -- all i used for now to hold it was 3m tape and it doesnt move --- :)

i have one under each door -- so 4 total -- but you can be creative and do or use what ever to want ---

alternatively to that, you could use a firm foam, and run it all along, so as to make the whole thing sturdy, not just a few points. Also, it's alot easier to shape and such.lol

my exhaust is lower than the side are and i have never hit the exhaust --- so i'll keep my fingers crossed that i'll never pick up any pieces :)

because fiberglass is not allways perfect --- the drivers side is a little warped --- i had to mod it -- other wise the door would not open -- when i talked to buddyclub they said there was nothing wrong with the mold -- and since they are in florida and im in oregon -- it wasnt like i could drive over and show them proof -- i took picture before i ever put them on and i was told that it doesnt prove anything --- so rather than fight it, i modded it --- :)
Plus i found out by doing this -- it was easier to adjust it the way i wanted too before drilling ---

a bit confused, your title says moulded? but looks like its just screwed in. did you mould the door sill area in but not mould the ends? if so why?

well actually it says modded = mod :)

this thread was originally started in the dumpster under a different title for a fellow member to look at -- it was easier that way for me to post pics -- he had asked how i put mine on without rivets -- so i showed him ---

t3ase a moderator thought i had put up some nice points or ideas so it was changed to this ---

if you would like more info pm me or just post here --- enjoy :)

what i did was trim the door area so allow the kit to sit a little closer to the body -- this was you can use 3m tape to hold the sides under the doors instead of rivets which you can see when you open the door ---

Looks great, love those skirts, Not to tread jack, but I just purchased the onderground side skirts and would like to know what did you use to make the side stick, I don't see rivets and my skirts don't have enough lip to rivit them to the car. What can I use? Would 3M tape work??? Thanx

without seeing them in person -- i cant say -- but yes what i used was 3m tape along the whole side to hold it -- but you need to make sure that the side sits close enough to the body of the car for the tape to work and not hender you from mounting it right -- then i drilled the holes needed at the end to secure it -- let me know how it goes -- maybe some pics of it on the car might give some ideas -- be creative :)

onderground recommends molding it under the door -- but if you did that then you would not be able to take them off --
after driving around for several months and drive every where to learn where you might bottom out -- if you feel that you wont harm them -- you like having them -- then you could mold it and never take them off -- :)
