The engine on my P5 threw a rod and cracked, so I'm looking to get a new one. I have a few questions first! Does anyone know if the bell housing is the same between manual and automatic cars? Is the P5 and Protege engine the same? I've read around that the 2001-2003 P5 and protege engines...

I've been told by some people that engines are sometimes only compatible with a manual or automatic transmission. Is that not true about the P5?
