Itching to customize my 2013 Mazda5

Air valve stem. All Mz5 come with in-rim TMPS sensors that are capable of reading individual air pressure and air temp. Look at your rim's stem, it should have a metal cap. Mz5 dash "shows" a dummy light b/c budget cars don't come with screens in the early 2010s. For a period, Mazda try to...

Itching to customize my 2013 Mazda5

Looks are subjective but that isn’t it. FYI, that looks like it has rubber stems so you’ll need to buy TPMS sensors and pay to RE mount/balance all tires.

    Recommendations for new brake pads?

Good idea thinking outside of the box. It never crossed my mind to shop platform sharing mates (for brake pads). I'm curious what supplier Volvo uses. They seem pricy but I think it's likely from a reputable mfg. Not a bad deal if the warranty claim is as easy as you say (for someone planning...

Aftermarket Headunit Options that do it all?

I also prefer buttons -most of the time. There is a case for touch HVAC controls IF you truly want to consolidate everything into one screen. You'll need to custom make a dash kit to mount a 'Tesla style' double din android unit. You can then rid of the upper trim display panel, center radio...

Itching to customize my 2013 Mazda5

Enjoy your time with customizing it, it's a great way to get familiar with the car. I'm not sure what your goals are but something to consider, >18" rims without any lowering leaves odd looking wheel gap due to the low profile tires. Not sure if you are aware but the MS3/RX8/(any car) rims...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

^ Not a fan of black out headlights or dark/murdered out look (car looks more like the MPV) but that polishing job is fantastic! Old car problems: Forgot how much of a PITA FSB bushings are to replace. Fix clunk back in 2014 @78K with OEM. It's back after ~100K; left bushing came out in...

    AC Cutting Out

Yep, same pattern. I hope it is as simple as that for you. Make sure you really stick it up high, and you'll know b/c a gush of water/crude will fall out/on you.

    AC Cutting Out

I thought it does come back so whatever it is, it is temporary. This happened to my '08 about 2-3 years back, It took more than a few hours for it to return to normal. I too thought I had some HVAC component failure but after clearing the drain hose, AC has been solid. When you click AC...

    AC Cutting Out

Try clearing the AC drain hose? When clogged, it causes moisture build up which can lead to the evaporator coil freezing up. Once thawed, it works again. Double twist piece of steel wire with a drill, and fish it UP the drain tube.

    2013 Mazda5 Motor Mounts

You are over thinking it. You only need to replace the 3 motor mounts and reuse everything else. You don’t need thread lock but feel free to use some if it gives you a sense of security. *IF* you are going with the eFoucse TMM then you’ll need a new through bolt b/c the threading is cut into...

    Recommendations for new brake pads?

Pre 2000s, Power Slot and Stop Tech were two of the most recognized names. Out of nowhere came this brand call Power Stop and it confused quite a lot of people. Name is certainly clever and sounds impressive, and they were WAY cheaper than established brands. FWIW, both Power Slot and Stop...

Can't remove parking brake cable on rear caliper

Did you take a pic of the 'other' end? What I'd try before taking it to a grinder... Remove caliper and rest it on a solid surface. Remove (replace) the slider pin boot. Hold the exposed sleeve with joint plyers with pressure in the opposite direction as you whack the mount with a few good...

Can't remove parking brake cable on rear caliper

Gotcha, I guess I cannot relate. I don't find seized parts due to weather (salt) an issue but I guess you folks have been there/done that -carry on. EDIT: If possible, could you post a before pic? Is it frozen together to that point where you can't delineate the sleeve from the housing? Can...
