Well, if anything, your speakers are underpowered. But that isn't much of a problem. Could be bad craftsmanship in either the HU or the speakers, but I doubt it. It sounds like your speakers are just freaking out at the range of frequencies that it's getting. Your speakers' freq responce...

Have you looked at the alpine units? Check out this one. It reads everything from cda, cd-r/rw, to mp3s to dvd-r/rw. The only thing that it doesn't seem to read is dual-layer dvds, but you'd need a dual-layer burner on your computer if you want to burn your music onto a dual-layer dvd anyways...

I just took a look at the alpine website and if having remote leads is a requirement, then you're going to have to get the CDE-9843 or higher. The 9841 doesn't have a remote wire, so if you just go for one model higher (43) then you should be good.
