Why do I get distortion with this setup?

Quoted for truth and emphasis. I cannot count the number of times I've seen people buy Sony Xplode speakers "because they were cheap, and besides, they look ok". The saddest part is that even after owning and listening to them for a while they still don't realize how crappy they are.

Why do I get distortion with this setup?

Well, if anything, your speakers are underpowered. But that isn't much of a problem. Could be bad craftsmanship in either the HU or the speakers, but I doubt it. It sounds like your speakers are just freaking out at the range of frequencies that it's getting. Your speakers' freq responce...

    Redundant Cutoffs

Is there any way to disable the built-in crossover in the stock P5 tire well subwoofer? My friend bought an alpine CDA-9830 and we want to run the sub through it's own channel direct from the HU. And we'd like to use the HPF/LPF on the HU instead of the built-in crossover on the sub. btw, what...

    DVD players

Have you looked at the alpine units? Check out this one. It reads everything from cda, cd-r/rw, to mp3s to dvd-r/rw. The only thing that it doesn't seem to read is dual-layer dvds, but you'd need a dual-layer burner on your computer if you want to burn your music onto a dual-layer dvd anyways...

    Remote Lead Info/Help Needed

I just took a look at the alpine website and if having remote leads is a requirement, then you're going to have to get the CDE-9843 or higher. The 9841 doesn't have a remote wire, so if you just go for one model higher (43) then you should be good.

Identifying the stock tire well sub

Assuming that there's 4 signal wires, a constant power, a ground, and a switched power, that leaves one wire left. Do you think it's the yellow one, the amp remote wire? Also, what is switched power? And why would the sub need 2 signals (a + and a - wire each = 4 wires)? I shall get out my...

Identifying the stock tire well sub

Ok, so my friend has an '03 P5 with a completely stock system, including the tire well subwoofer. He bought a new HU and we want hook the sub up on it's own channel. We figure that we will just cut the signal wire to the sub and run a new wire direct from the HU. The problem is that we can't...
