    P5 60K checkup questions

I was talking to the mechanic at this shop and he had a detailed book on service for cars. It was only up to 2001 and he said that the engine was an interference engine. arcane73 and JoshP5, how sure are you that my 2002 is non-interference???????? Thanks!

    P5 60K checkup questions

I'm now getting a quote from a local garage that does a lot of work on toyota's and volvos. They seem on the up and up. First comment they had was, "I don't think you need to replace your timing belt, but we will check for potential wear problems." Next, the clutch flush, oil change and...

    P5 60K checkup questions

I know that this isn't a very exciting thread, but I'm hoping you guys could help. I have done some cosmetic modes and stereo enhancements to my 2002.5 P5, but I'm not an engine guy. My car is just supposed to look good and get me to and from work. My question is: What should be done at...

Anyone out there install these speakers...

in the back door of a Mazda Protege 5 (2002). I'm wondering if they'll fit or not. They are the Infinity REF6012SI - Infinity 6-1/2" two-way shallow-mount loudspeakers. I saw them on woofersetc dot com. infinity 6.5 Thinking of pairing them up with some other infinities in front. infinity...

    Looking for some speaker ideas

Wondering what some of you have done to replace the factory speakers. I see that the front speaker is 5"x7"/6"x8" and the rear is 6". I don't think it is a good idea to mix speaker sizes like that (but I could be wrong). I was wondering what other people have done to replace the factory...

Question on Installation of Sony Head Unit

Well, I wanted to let eveyone what happened. I got the Sony GT510 from Crutchfield. They provided the wire harness and the Scosche dash kit. I was able to do the same thing uiuc240 with regards to reusing the rubber bumber from the stock radio. Long story short, the install was easy (once...

Question on Installation of Sony Head Unit

So I guess what you guy's are saying is that the bar is easy to remove or cut? I know that some people here don't like Sony much, but it is one of the few lower end units that plays AAC files (iPOD files) from a CD. I also like the fact that it has an AUX Input on the front so I can hook up my...

Question on Installation of Sony Head Unit

It is the GT510. Looks cool with the red color and I love the fact that I can put in a AAC CD and it reads them great. I see on Crutchfield that I have a "modified" fit on my p5 for a Sony Head Unit. I would have to: "Unbolt or cut out the factory stereo's rear support bracket to make room...

    Replacing the factory stereo without...

Thanks for everyone input. Sounds like I won't get much (if any) improvement with the sound with only the head unit replacement. I might still get it because I can hook up my iPod to it directly with the $50 controller for the Pioneer. At least I'll then I'll have cd quality iTunes. Again...

    Replacing the factory stereo without...

If I were to replace my p5 factory radio with an aftermarket Pioneer DEH-P3800MP or 4800, would it make my factory speakers sound any better? I don't want to spend a lot of money and I was wondering if it would help the sound significantly. I guess what I'm asking is what makes the p5 stereo...
