Max you did good. Great price for what is sure to be a car show winner. Congratulations on the great find! Any true rotary fan would jump on the chance to own this piece of history.

We just found a nice one in Grapevine, TX a guy in Southlake was the original owner and traded it in at the Grapevine Ford dealer. The sales guy there was on the lookout for us and called me, so I got to see it before it was cleaned up. There was some minor body damage that they fixed. All in...
Bad coil, plug or plug wire.
Don't take it to the dealer unless it's under warranty. Take it to a good reputable mechanic. If you don't know any ask other forum members in your town.
Good luck.

Mazda is still showing them on the mazdamotorsports.com site. $499 I believe is the advertised price, but i have not checked on availability. Sounds like the obx is fine for a street car.
Good post except the fact that lowering the octane is irrrelevant to the n/a rotary, and I hardly think that you could measure the viscosity increase in the fuel with 1/2 oz per gallon as recomended by Pettit, hence I disagree with your assesment of stress on fuel system components. (enguard)...

look here for a premix product. Pettit racing has a write up about it on their web site. If it were my car I would premix. I use Amsoil products but to each his own. I would stick to dino oil and premix.
No not really. Oh maybe:) You know I could deal with a motor that needed to be rebuilt but just the fact that he tried to delete the thread speaks volumes. To be fair there are always two sides to every story, and I would be willing to listen......but deleting the post is very ugly and gives...
Ok, Jim I'll bite. As I said in the other thread I bought a new 80 GS with my first wife....anyway we split she got the dogs and the car. Then I was lucky enough to get an 81 GSL. That was the finest car I have ever owned, I trully liked it even beter than my 3rd gen. I digress. Anyway did the...
Jim, I bought that one and my 1st wife got it in our split up, I then went out and got the GSL in 1981. Had to sell if for a minivan 5 years later.....such is life. The first gen has a great personality as do most Mazda cars, I just went to Houston last year and picked up a GSL-SE to restore...
I won't get into the synthetic vs. dino oil in the rotary this has been beat to death. You might want to go the rx8club.com or rx7club.com those sites are rotary specific.
The only time you will drain the entire system of oil is if you service the oil cooler or the lines. I agree with the above...
Yes, that would be you. Very nice MP3. The entire car is just about perfect. My son has been looking at one that looks like it needs new tail lights. I'll PM you and let you know what were up to.
