Mazda5 Interior / Cargo Flexibility Photos

Let's see any small or even mid-sized SUV do THIS Picked up from Sears - Nordictrack's largest treadmill, a 350 lb 40 degree incline treadmill. Placed a sheet of plywood over the cargo section, slid the shipping pallet right over it, cinched it across the back. Only complaint is I did get some...

Reflections on 1 Year of Ownership

Not sure. We bought from local inventory and this was the only GT they had in red--we got a good deal on it even though I didn't want DVD. It works fine, although these are becoming relics since I am 100% Blu-Ray now. The mirror...not good! Homelink has to be pressed for over a second to work...

    Keep the 5 or get a CX-5?

LOL. So NOT so. Even a parking lot test will reveal the simple truth.

Reflections on 1 Year of Ownership

Since buying a 2012 Mazda 5 a year ago, I have not been as active on this forum as I wanted. With a new baby last February, and the car being my wifes, I havent done much more than think about it as we roll up close to just 5,000 miles. Ours is a Grand Touring edition in red with sand leather...

Grippy liner for the dashboard shelf

Here's a quick 10-min DIY that adds a liner to the pocket in front of the passenger seat. Doing this virtually eliminates sliding of objects and arguably looks nice as well. A strip of black leather (easily available on ebay) would also work but would not have nearly the non-slip functionality...

    Mazda Door Video

I finally found this thread and this video, it was great! Loved the comparison with the Shoji sliding door. The door just feels so right that you don't feel any need to stick a motor in it.

    Dynamats

Thanks. I might try just the A-pillar as I'm trying to avoid getting too much into gutting the interior (though I have certainly done plenty of this in the past). I hear what you are saying about moving the noise from one place to another!

    Dynamats

dieseldriver, what is the biggest bang/buck for starters on Dynamat for a 1-day project? I notice, oddly, that the most annoying noise seems to be coming from the windshield area (wipers?). I don't even consider this car very noisy until I get to my normal crusing speeds of > 70 mph. Would the...

    Same Engine as 6?

If it is tuned for low rpm torque, I'd say they did a good job. Seems to pull much more strong than the numbers show. My real interest with the shared engine would be to leverage tuning experience/fitments from the 6 community.
