To add to this, I also to sill plates for the trunk from china (I want to say $60), and they are very cheap. One I've had to refasten already. Looking back, the sticker style would have been a better decision for the bumper/trunk.

just ground the dome light input wire rather than connect it to the dome light. It's obviously a safety feature and I wouldn't really suggest bypassing it, but I dont see why that wouldnt work.
