Do I need navigation update and Android Auto / Apple CarPlay?

Hi guys,

Pretty much the title. I went to go see a Mazda CX-3. It has software version 59 on it and no navigation. If I did get the car I would be looking to get the Android Auto/Apple Car Play update.

- Would that also come with nav or is that a separate thing?
- Would I need to first update with nav then update with AA/CP?

Once installed I would exclusively use AA/CP so it's mainly the second question that I'm worried about.

To my knowledge, no, you don't need Navigation to install/use AA/ACP. All you'd need to do is update the firmware, then install the OEM retrofit kit for AA/ACP. After that, you can use Google Maps for Navigation and you're set.
