potential 2025 cx-5 buyer

About to purchase 2025 cx-5 preferred.
Trying to get $1500 dealer discount off MSRP and also $2k mazda rebate for paying in full.

Do you think this is OK deal? Also, any major issues about cylinder deactivation, carbon build up, and timing cover leaks in 2025?

We don't have evidence that any design changes have occurred to the cylinder heads.

Carbon buildup is an issue but not for the first 100K miles.

Timing cover leaks, I've only seen that discussed here for the 1st and early 2nd gen years.

Thanks. Does cylinder deactivate feature work fine? I am hearing mixed reviews and complaints.

Look at the "What did you pay for your CX-5" sticky to get an idea of what others are working out as deals.

Me personally, I was able to get a discount of $2800 off of MSRP before any Mazda rebates back in December. This is for a Select trim. So your goal of $1500 off is doable but in my opinion you can do better. Also @Ninja_Matt provides a buying service. You might want to check in with him if you think you won't be able to really negotiate a good deal.

As to carbon build up, all GDI engines have it at varying degrees of severity. Using top tier gas and quality engine oil helps with minimizing carbon build up. You can also install an oil catch can.

There is really only one thing that helps with carbon buildup on these engines: heat and pressure. Every so often, give it some exercise on the highway.
