What have you done to your P5 today?

Stick! It's the only way for me and Mazda lol it's been a good 15 years since the last time I drove a stick. It's just as fun as I remembered!
Just looked at your profile again and I see you've got some history on here. Cool to have an old member back (not like I was around in those days, just usually see people drop off and never come back).

Well what I thought was a transmission noise on my P5 ended up being a very shot front driver's wheel bearing that was not making normal wheel bearing noises. New bearing in and it drives beautifully. I also had a shake in my steering wheel and especially while braking, and those are totally gone.

Also replaced 4 engine mounts, cleaned EGR, replaced front control arm bushings with polyurethane ones from Whiteline. I think the bushings were probably the best thing I've done so far. No noticable reduction in ride quality but no more clunking and seems a little tighter up front. Had a shop press the bearing and bushings at once into the parts I brought them and it was 1hr of labor at $165/hr and had them back in less than 24 hours. Well worth it.

Anyways, she's back on the road now. And I have a 626 transmission with 4qts of fluid and a bunch of OEM Mazda parts for a trans swap just lying around now 🤦‍♂️

@TX_SilverP5 Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't appear you have a thread dedicated to this Protege5 or not one updated recently...I say this because the above post is amazing, beautifully organized and unbelievably detailed...If you don't have a dedicated thread, I certainly hope you create one...This is awesome!

No, I have not made its own post, but I did do this late last year on this thread with everything done to it in 2024. I was chasing down a transmission issue that year, so this year was dedicated to worry-free longevity. Maybe I'll make one in the builds section but it's focus wasn't for performance but rather OEM+ from when we purchased in 2023. Thanks!

I think I'll join in on this thread. 😁
My AWR mounts are in. 🥰

Updated post can be found here. 👍

Good looking mounts. Curious to hear about vibrations in the cabin once installed.
The front mount is 70 durometer and the other 3 are 60 durometer hardness.
When talking to AWR on what Inwas looking for this was their recommendation for a vibration free setup.

I'll be installing these sometime in January or February.
Suspension is priority right now. 👍

Good stuff. I've got a strange vibration at around 60-65mph that isn't wheel/tire/bearing related. I've read here on a post that it has a correlation to one of the engine mounts. With my luck, it will be the rear one.

Are these things still cool?? Lol

New shift boot along with a CF cupholder overlay that I found in my garage from 20 years ago!

Just purchased some LED's for the gauge cluster from SuperBrightLeds.com
I'll let you know how they look once I've received them and installed them.

While the cluster is out, I'll finally get around to installing the "Dave B" gauge rings I bought 5 years ago to enhance the look of the gauges.

IMO, those gauge rings are the best aesthetic interior mod for the P5! It hurt me to remove mine, even though I was trading the P5 in. lol
