Official 2026 Mazda CX-5 Pics and Details Released

Not even 24 hours since the premiere and already a huge backlash, and since this is not a full production car, I wouldn't be surprised is Mazda will make some changes to calm everybody down.
Like removing the logo on the back, the widened wheel arches, the near removal of all buttons in the front....

In this German video around 3:40, the Mazda designer mentioned that there is new brighter colour coming, along the same lines as the existing Mazda Soul Red.

My guess is that it will be the Indigo Blue that Mazda was showing here.

I don't hate it as a car. It looks nice, as with everything from the brand. I just don't know why they flattened out the hood and the door panels as they had such nice curves before that reflect light in interesting ways with their paint options. And those protruding shapes on the wheel arches look odd.

I can't get over the bug eye headlight design.

The interior looks nice and the seats may be an upgrade. We'll have to see about the controls. I'm sure if anyone can make a useable interface, it would be Mazda. But I do prefer dials for temperature and audio volume.

The new interior is another thing that bugs me. The wrap around effect reminds me of a Mustang GT or some Toyotas. Give a guy some space to breath please, this isn't mama's womb.

do you consider Mazda's infotainment in two previous CX5 generations usable? My 2016 was painfully slow, but at least i was able to enter destinations as there was touch screen. Entering addresses in 2021 model with the dial is virtually impossible. Voice entry remains a joke, does anyone even use it? I only survive on CarPlay. Apple can make good interfaces, Mazda and most other car makers can't.

Subaru feels drivers' sentiment and brings back the knobs Subaru Is Bringing Back Physical Knobs and Buttons in Its Cars. Mazda will take another generation to follow.

This will be the Mazda interior going forward.

This new interior set-up, which European design director Jo Stenuit confirmed will be rolled out across the rest of the range in due course, also features a new steering wheel adorned with Mazda’s fresh typeface branding (which can also be found at the rear).

I beg their pardon, but that review is delusional.
"The CX-5 remains a chunky SUV aimed squarely at young families"?
CX-5 has never been a chunky SUV; it's always been the most fun-to-drive and driver-oriented SUV in the segment.
With the oversized trunk, rear row room and 10sec 0-60 it will definitely become a chunky SUV that it has never been.

Saw this on this site Mazda Garantien für Neu- und Gebrauchtwagen | Mazda Deutschland has this always been the case?

6 YEAR MAZDA NEW CAR WARRANTY¹

For Mazda, quality is a promise we keep. We're so confident in our commitment, which is why we're extending our new car warranty to 6 years or 150,000 kilometers (whichever comes first). Knowing you're prepared for the unexpected will give you peace of mind in every situation and allow you to enjoy your driving even more.

Look at it like this, our cells phones no longer physical have buttons and nothing is updated as often as cell phones are. They pave the road for all other electronics to follow.
My cell phone doesn't have an engine, a steering wheel or tires. Last time I checked, I wasn't driving my cell phone. In fact, I was sitting on the couch last time I had it in my hands.

Comical how the human mind yearns for a response from a touch, such as a "click". The click confirms the request through sensation. Reminds me of a baby's toy. However, our electronic frontier is moving toward a primarily visually functioning world. Nope, I don't like it either. I too prefer the "click", but this is just the beginning. Wait until you see what is in store next for us...

This won't be a popular comment, but after selling my 2017 Mazda 6 GT (which I loved) two years ago, I will probably never go back to Mazda again. I haven't liked anything they've done lately, and this new CX-5 is no exception. It looks pretty much the same as when it came out in 2012. Every other manufacturer has significantly changed the look of their vehicles, but Mazda has done nothing to inspire a new set of potential customers. That and this new hideous touch screen interior. Just when the backlash against the elimination of buttons, knobs and switches is increasing, Mazda chooses to ignore it. That's one of the reasons I love my 2023 Stinger. Besides the performance aspect of this car, Kia chose not to go all touch screen. All the important high use controls, like radio, HVAC, and a few other things, are all via switches, knobs and buttons. Thank you Kia for that.

2016 is irrelevant today and I didn't know people even enter directions that way.

Regardless, this model will be "all-new" :)

Not sure that's what will happen with cars. People are raising their voices and their concerns about these virtual control systems and elimination of real buttons/switches. It's not safe, for one thing, and it's not more convenient or easier either. It's a pain in the butt. I remember a few years ago when Honda eliminated the volume control button in their cars. The backlash was huge. They brought it back pretty quickly. I'm hearing from people more and more about how they want the old tactile switches and buttons back.

Moving forward in reverse.

the car looks good. it's not radically different than the outgoing model in terms of looks, but it doesn't need to be.

decision to replace the turbo variant with a hybrid is a smart move.

i'm lost at the screens inside though. not for me.
Sizes of the display are getting ridiculous!

I would guess that it could be cheaper to produce a car with a touch screen rather than discreet buttons and knobs.
