Official 2026 Mazda CX-5 Pics and Details Released

I believe these are the official 2026 Mazda CX-5 images which have just been released in Europe...Initial details have been posted below...

* 2.5L Direct Injection Gas Engine e-SKYACTIV G 2.5 with M hybrid

So far it appears the details are (based on the European version)...

- Dimensions: 4690×1860×1695mm

- Engine: e-SKYACTIV G 2.5 (M hybrid)

- Transmission: Six-Speed Automatic SKYACTIV DRIVE

- Suspension: Macpherson strut in front and Multi-Link in the rear

Can I get it without the hybrid thing?

In the States, it will retain the exact same powertrain (NA 2.5L/6 sp trans) that the current Generation has until 2027 when the hybrid system is released. Some critics think the turbo motor is being dropped since it's not mentioned.

the car looks good. it's not radically different than the outgoing model in terms of looks, but it doesn't need to be.

decision to replace the turbo variant with a hybrid is a smart move.

i'm lost at the screens inside though. not for me.

Apparently that's what the modern consumer wants. They glorified jacked up crossover things.

Exterior-wise, I like almost everything. Rear looks especially good, minus the decision to replace the Mazda emblem. I really like the lower trim treatment on the doors, nice little callback to the original Kodo design of the 1st gen CX-5. I don't like the little "tabs" on the top of the fender trim pieces, or the "underbite" of the lower half of the front bumper - it looks too bulky, especially at 3/4 angles.

Interior, again, I like almost everything. I wish the seats had a bit more detail, but they will likely change that up a couple of years in. Dashboard/screen placement looks really boring, almost like a Tesla interior (but maybe that's what they're going for). Screen size looks nice and big, but I can see that being a big distraction to drivers, especially if the HVAC and radio controls are nested in submenus. It's a complete departure from when they put the infotainment display further away from the driver in the Mazda3 and took away touchscreen capability in an effort to make shifting focus from the road to the screen easier and eliminate distractions. They also took away the control knob, forcing you to have to touch the screen to do anything, inviting even more opportunities for distraction. They should have at least left the control knob intact.

If I were in the market, I'd probably wait a few years for Mazda to iron out any issues with the touchscreen software and hardware. That screen needs to be reliable and lightning-fast.

Yes. According to the german review video, it is only about 5cm shorter but has more interior space than the CX-60 (due to the more compact engine layout).

I am glad they finally stretched CX5 a little bit. This car really needed slightly more space in the back - more legroom for 2nd row passengers. Also it looks like there is plenty of headroom despite this big panoramic sunroof. Trunk has a good height and is deep enough but looks like that at least hybrid might loose spare tire.

Overall exterior and interior has some appeal to me - typical Mazda simplicity which I don't mind but I really wish they would leave at least one row of real buttons and knobs to control AC and some other basic functions - sort of like in CX-70/90.

I share your sentiment sm1ke about the control knob (I really like it in my CX-9) but realistically I am not sure if that could be effectively used with such a big screen.

Overall I really hate this big screen idea and touch (flat) buttons - when I drive a car I want to feel it and hear it when I am in control - and this soft touch/tap approach is not my thing.

One thing I noticed in this video - he mentions that regular gasoline version is going to get a smaller screen - does that mean some real buttons maybe?

Hey, at least on the other hand Mazda left a proper looking driver dash gauges set up - despite being all digital but we are not getting just another bland looking flat screen.
