Test drove a '19 GT-R and Signature today

I do wonder if this isn't a 100K+ mileage issue

Most turbos fail at around 100,000 miles, IF not properly maintained (synthetic oil, 30-60 second cool downs, cold weather rips).

That means we will not hear about any CX9 turbo failures until the engines start seeing 100,000 miles. For Mazda and other companies, as long as the warranty period is up, who cares if something fails at 100,000 miles? It's not their problem anymore.

A lot of things can fail at 100k miles not properly maintained, or even earlier.
 
I think Ill keep my 17 for another year or two and see what kind of issues others have in that amount of time.

Plenty of Ford F-150 ecoboost owners reported 200k miles+. Turbos these days last longer. For the skyactiv turbo I suspect that by the 100k mark you'd have to change engine mounts from all that torque?
 
Long lasting turbos are nothing new. This isn't new technology guys. Turbo cars have been around since the mid 60s. This "turbo fear" is unfounded.

Get to work 59 seconds faster in the turbo model. Waits 60 seconds to cool turbo down lol.

All you have to do is drive it normal for the last mile or so while the non-turbo models passes by you LOL.

I believe modern cars with turbos no longer require a cool down period, I don't with my diesel, and I do know my last Xtrail had a pump that would run after shut down to cool the turbo. Last time i cooled a turbo was in 1999 with a 1.8T audi.
 
Depends. The POS turbo on my old CX-7 set me back over $2k each time. Most of that was labor.

Key word, labor, and you got ripped off, too...

You can buy that turbo new for $400, new hardware and all for under $500. $1500 Labor, bangs head...

No. Not unless they have some real idiots at Mazda. My LS1 car's engine and motor mounts were just fine, and that's being slammed on a 6-speed manual for 150K miles by the time I sold it. My LT1 car went 170K+ before I sold it, and again, all mounts were just fine. (The LT1 makes 325# torque, peaking around 22-2300rpm, the LS1 makes 350# of torque, peaking around 4400rpm, but pulling over 300# from about 2000rpm and up)
 
Picked up my Sig last night. Love it. It handles like it's on rails and the 2.5T has gobs of torque with no lag!!

Dealer did a swap 200 miles away to get me my first color choice. (Silver). I'm not a fan of roof rails but they didn't charge me and they don't look bad on a silver car.

Looks good. I really hope the improved the suspension on the turbo models to match the power. Needs to pull high 0.8's or low 0.9's with that low of a ground clearance. What size are the tires again? Waiting for them legit 0-60 times!

They're Toyo A36 in 225/55/R19 soon to be switched out with my Nokian Hakkapellita R2 SUV winter tires.

Reviews on the Toyo's look to be medicocre.

Say what? Couple hundred?

Rebuild a turbo. It*s not hard. Take it apart, reassemble, slide it back on the piping, bolt it down, done...

Btw, I hope it didn*t come across as a low blow, it was meant as a compliment as I love seeing folks like yourself get around to turning wrenches as much as they can, because honestly most mechanic work isn*t hard, it*s just putting in the time and getting your hands dirty while having the proper tools. Most mechanics are highly overpriced crooks, and go hand and hand with stealerships...
