I was going to buy a CR-V...Not anymore

If search worked better on this board, more people might use it. It's the worst I've encountered in many years.

On a desktop machine I normally use the "Google Custom Search" on the left side versus the server side search on the upper right.

I've found search on all of these forums lacking.

I used to be fairly active on NASIOC for our Subie (482,136 accounts / 20,815 active members) and that search function is just as atrocious. I just Googled things and clicked on the NASIOC results.

Yeah, whine about the power when you drive it and then Google it and then exclaim that the 2019 will have a turbo and show the sales rep the articles and database mazda has listing it and then act like youd rather wait and get the new turbo model.

Definitely do this.

Thanks everyone. I have my eyes set on a black on black 2018 GT AWD with 14k miles. Gonna try and pull the trigger tomorrow. Any suggestions on negotiating tips?

IDK, I can get a new one for less than they want for this used one, especially around VA. Shop around, and don't try to pull the trigger so quickly...

I'd get AWD regardless of where I lived, and most would as well it seems. To each their own though, fo sho...

Absolutely agree to each their own. Cheers.
I've had FWD cars... last 3 cars and they were just great in the snow and rain and never let me down.
I was going to buy a FWD CX-5... they barely have any up here.
Now? I am SO glad I DID get the AWD because it has been amazing in the snow and does feel a tiny bit better planted in the really really really really rainy wet (like puddles on the freeway wet) but no way if I lived in 'the dirty south'.

I see no point in getting a car like a CX-5 and not getting the AWD. It's kind of a given. AWD comes in handy in more than just weather.

^ I've always kinda dig the AWD badge.
LoL. I do wish there was an in dash notification. I mean....I could buy an AWD badge and slap it on my FWD and sell it to you. You wouldn't know...

There's a special place in hell for people like you. It's the same place they put the used car dealers (cryhard)

Hey now! I wouldn't! Just saying...some dbag could. [emoji16]

Sounds like someone who rarely leaves the pavement.

Nailed it. Nor am I ashamed of it.
I did go on some really hilly dirt and gravel roads to a cabin for a weekend. So...once in 2 years.
I doubt many of us are off roaders.
Oh..and my cousins half mile driveway is a dirt road. It's totally flat though. [emoji6]

Not many, for sure. But many have the need [or desire] to drive unpaved and/or steep roads at times.
The CX-5 would suck at real off roading, while it excels at "on-roading".

So here is what they offered. 2018 CX-5 GT black on black with 14k miles.
Certified Pre-owned which extends the limited warranty 1 year/12k miles AFTER factory warranty expires and extends powertrain warranty to 7 year/100k miles, roadside assistance and a few other perks.
They want $28,189 before taxes and title.
$29,960 out the door.

I was going to buy today but they werent budging on price. I said Id think about it and come back tomorrow. Salesman said the most hes seen is $200 off their internet price

What do y'all say?

Get yourself a nice used 2017 CX-5 model and stay away from any vehicle that has cylinder deactivation IMO...

Why is that? Wife's current car, (which we are replacing with the CX5) is a 2010 Honda Crosstour with 160k miles. Owned it since it had 18k miles. No issues so far. What are the known issues with cylinder deactivation?

I'd rather pay that amount for a brand new 2019 CX5 Touring rather than a well used 2018 GT. They are just asking too much for a used 14,000 mile vehicle IMO. The perks they offered are not really worth anything unless you have troubles. Ed

That's not asking too much. I just did a search on auto trader and that looks like an average price. Not a great price but not Abad price either.
