Seats - is this normal?

:
2021 Acura RDX
Hello!

I have a 17 GT with 7k miles. I noticed recently that the side bolster facing the front door looks creased. Obviously, I am sitting on it, but is this normal? I am going to have to make an account so I can post a picture.

Can anyone take a picture of there side bolster right above the seat control button on the side of the seat? My worry is that theyll start cracking.

How long are the seat coverings warrantied for?

Thanks!

Probably normal..... Mazda speced nice looking and feeling material but I don’t think did much if any durability testing. Our ‘17 steering wheel already has several scratches which cause the leather surface to peel a little. I’m assuming from looking at it wrong..... never had this issue with previous cars and we’re not doing anything different. I suspect before too long that leather cover will look ratty and need replacing. Dealer just shrugged and said it’s leather ...... my Ford’s leather steering wheel doesn’t have this problem lol

I doubt you have a warranty issue. A google search on this topic has a thread for about all makes and models - usually getting in and out, and especially how you get in and out puts more wear on the side bolster that faces the door.

Some will blame the Mazda leather - but I have had this on all cars I have owned from Lexus to Kia. Leather will wrinkle/crease - especially the drivers door side bolster.

+1

The driver's side seat will often get more usage and wear faster than the other seats. In my 2003 Honda Element, the far left hand side of the driver's seat had cracked badly while the right hand side was fine. The passenger and especially the rear seats looked pristine.

I have to look on this as the car gaining character.

A few wrinkles is no big deal and pretty normal. Those seat covers should be covered under the first 3 years of warranty. On our '14, the outer edge of the driver bottom foam cushion was getting pounded out from getting in/out of car and was replaced under warranty. This is the wifes car and she is a light weight. She pretty much has to slide across that bolster to reach the ground when getting out.
Also both front seat covers were replaced from the material coming apart, all under warranty. Funny part is, the drivers seat is already showing that again, after 5000 kms. Dealer has ordered another set. A little frustrating to say the least. Another Mazda quality issue.

The seats just concerning me! How do I post a picture of the seat on from my iPhone?

Also, Im guessing 3rd party companies can fix the leather?

Your '17 CX-5 has only 7K miles. If you're really concerning the quality of your leather seat, take your CX-5 to your Mazda dealer for warranty service.

From your iPhone tap "Go Advanced" and tap attachment icon to the right of the top-row menu. Follow the instruction in newly opened screen and upload the picture as an attachment and insert into your new post.

It's normal AFAIK. My 6 had some creasing/wrinkles to and I only owned it for just under 3 years
