Uno, and a certain tropical fruit chile guy...
I just don't get it. Some things are not mutually exclusive.
To the fruit man's point, sure a Macan or SQ5 might handle corners well (I actually don't know, I am taking your word for it). So does a CX-5. Is your point that you have to spend the most amount of money? Silly argument, but anything to downplay a CX-5 am I right Mango? (hand)
And to Uno, seriously, go test drive some of the other CUV's out there right now and tell me they are all the same. Of course a CX-5 is useful and works well. It's also (gasp) dare I say it....fun. Will it be my ultimate "fun" car or dream car? No. But that doesn't mean I need to settle for a boring car like a RAV4 or something. CX-5 is both fun and looks sexy. A RAV4 is neither. A Rogue is neither. Other CUV's are neither. I don't see why you have to constantly argue this. You see it as an appliance only and the fruit man agree with you (hmm...probably why he has the car he has...), many of us don't. That's just like...your opinion man. And to be honest, to the people who happen to not agree with the "appliance only" view, you're coming off as a real ass in some of your responses.
As for me, I can appreciate your point of view from the perspective of some of the other cars you have driven/had before the CX-5 (maybe still have? Don't remember), which compared to a CX-5 are yeah...fun cars. I don't see how that negates others who maybe like me are a one car house at the moment, and in my opinion, I am getting both fun and useful. I don't buy a car if it isn't fun to drive, period. That's every level of fun. Should I be relegated to only considering fun cars super expensive cars, or jackass need for speed wannabe cars? No. My old Jeep was fun even if it was a piece of crap. But it was fun for completely different reasons than my CX-5 is. Handling sucked ass on it, but hey, the top went down and it could go on some pretty cool trails in the mountains. My CX-5 on the other hand...also fun, but in a different way. Handling is great, it just begs you to zoom zoom, and seriously it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. My future "fun" car will probably be a convertible of some sort. They interest me far more than those street-racer cars (you know which ones I mean). Hell in the future I'll probably have my CX-5, a convertible, and maybe some type of vehicle I can take off road again. And in all 3 I'll be able to say they are all fun cars in their respective manners.
I'm curious though, Uno. Do you also consider that new rig you built that you want to get the 1080Ti for a toaster?
