What did you pay for your CX-5?

Update. I left the exact information at home, but went in to the dealer to look at 2016.5 GT AWD fully loaded. MSRP $33000. Said I wasn't interested in buying, but we still negotiated. Basically offered 7-8% off. They wouldn't throw in any accessories, like the roof rack I wanted. The last straw was when they valued my car at $10500. 2014 Camry V6 Sport that is selling anywhere else for $18-19k. "well it has two small dents where a car door opened into it." I was done at that point and walked out

Smart man!

Good luck in securing what you're looking for...

Good call. That is not a stealership I'd deal with either.

Sounds like a deal! I've got a quote from them. We should have a list of user-recommended dealers in this site? Hey, maybe we'll even have our own Mazda247 pricing lol. Or would that be against the rules with sponsorship and whatnot?

Just an update, now that I'm home. Fully loaded 2016.5 GT AWD tech and i-ACTIVSENSE
MSRP: $33425
Discount: $1143
Price: $32282
%= 3.4%
Incentives: $2750.
He kept going to his manager, and they wouldn't decrease at all

They're crazy! You could've got that price years ago. Now they're trying to get rid of the last of the dying breed, and bring that nonsense to the table. Lol They can triple that discount easily, and I'd make em if they wanna sell it...

I appreciate your thoughts! I felt like I was getting the shaft, but it was my first time negotiating, so I just walked away. We'll see if he follows up

I'd like some feedback on my options (FWD)

I understand this is a personal choice but I'd appreciate your take on these 2

Used 2016 GT with tech pkg & activsense 47000 mi For $20,500 (private party)
New 2016.5 GT with tech pkg & activsense for $27000 (dealer)

is 47k mi too much for a mazda (likely highway miles. this person put 47k in 20 months)

well, with the 2016 with 47k being sold private party, the warranty bumper to bumper warranty is gone. That's definitely something to think about...

How many miles do you plan to put on it annually, and how long do you plan to keep it?

That's a lot of miles in less than two years. Plus, it's out of warranty.

On warranty side, I can buy 3rd party $1495 - 5 year upto 100k miles (route66 which I've used before for another car) (it exclusionary warranty and not Inclusionary)

I plan on putting around 10-12k miles a year

I'd go new, or one for the same price with less miles, but I must admit, I'm not a fan of 3rd party warranties, and I wouldn't trust claims to be denied. Tack that on to the price, and you might as well go new. If both cars are easily affordable, then why not...

After Tax etc I would be paying around $ 8k fewer with a decent warranty (my experience so far has been 4/5 stars level with this company).
I'm thinking of keeping it for around 3-4 years until buying a 3-row SUV.

The root of why I'm even considering this is 1) I really want the iActive pkg 2) I am not taking the big hit in depreciation which every new car takes right after it leaves the dealer lot

A more concerning question if I do go with used is, how are Mazda engines with long life? if maintained? I know Honda and Toyota can go 200k+. Does Mazda have similar reputation?

Alright folks. Can you give me some guidance? I was quoted this yesterday...

After doing more analysis. I will be saving maybe 1.5k over 4-5 years of ownership. I think I'd rather buy the new one.

Now The question is 2016.5 vs 2017. I can afford to wait around 3 months before I really need the SUV. I'm sure the 2016.5 deals won't be around until then. What type of discount would I see with the 2017 around Sep/Oct time frame vs now?

Thanks
