2016 Mazda CX-5 - What do you not like?

Just took delivery yesterday. Lots of good things under the hood and in the cabin. Nothing to really b**** about other than each time I start the vehicle I have to go all the way back to AUX in the ITS. Is there any way I can make AUX the default setting? I will leave a detailed review with pictures tomorrow.

I'm surprised it doesn't stay. Mine always stay but I don't use aux. But my phone, Pandora, FM. Any of those stay put when I turn off the car.

I use a portable Sirius radio with a lifetime subscription that I purchased in 2006. I can only transfer up to 3 portables or 1 in dash which is why I use a portable. I got my money out if it already despite the crusty remote.

I tow a 5.5m boat and occasionally a small box trailer behind my CX5.

Mine has the SCBS system front and rear. When backing with either trailer on, the system detects it as an obstacle and jams the brakes on! Have to go into the menu, safety, SCBS and turn it off.

It would be really good if rear SCBS turned off at the same time the rear parking sensors are turned off - which is done by simply pressing a button on the console. It would just make sense. Mazda please note!!!

SCBS automatically reactivates when you turn the car off and in again. So I now have to remember that every time I hook the boat or box trailer up, to turn it off before I drive off.

if you should decide to start using the in dash sirius it can be had for $25 every six months despite their absurd pricing list - been paying @ this rate for about 8 years now, all you do is call & threaten to cancel if they won't keep you at the same rate and they renew it for another six months

This is true. We did the same thing for a number of years. Just be firm with them when you call and they will give you that low rate.

I've now got 400 miles on my 2016.5 GT AWD. Only thing I'm feeling negative about is the harsh ride and porpoising at ~40 mph and under. I'm considering putting 18" wheels/tires on, to alleviate that.

The wife complained the leather seats don't heat up fast enough. Her car has cloth seats...

I'm analyzing gas mileage. Seems to be at least "ok" for the size/weight/perf of this CUV. I'm comparing to a 2012 Subaru Impreza 2.0 with CVT (which should win that comparo easily, but might not!) Also compares well with a 2012 Outback 2.5 with CVT. Except the OB is -so slow-. (And ugly and wallowy).

Harsh ride? Are we driving the same vehicle? Maybe we have a different definition of harsh. Harsh to me means stiff, unforgiving...feeling every single bump with no give. Thud, thud. Like my 98 900 SE that was lowered to the point where there wasn't even an inch between the tire and the body, and yet it never rubbed. Not even with 500 pounds in the hatch. But, boy, did that thing corner.
The CX5 is loose, cushy, some might say, bouncy. That must be what you mean by 'harsh'?

I agree with 7 above. I think that the ride in the CX-5 is very comfortable and so does my wife.

Have you checked the tire pressure?? Dealers are notorious for overinflating tires to avoid flat spots, and an overinflated tire will definitely cause ride issues.....

+1 Even a 2-3 psi makes a noticeable difference in the ride. Dealerships tend to put too much pressure at times.

I like the "firm" ride. It's tight, but not harsh. My CRV rode like a bathtub.

I would pair Current MPG with Range instead of needing to flip through with the info button.

What I dislike most about 2016/2016.5 CX-5 is NAV map update. We're well into 2017 but the "latest" map at Naviextras.com is still stale at Q4 2015. Not acceptable! (TomTom constantly releases new maps to 2015 CX-5 owners at quarterly intervals, with few weeks' lag at most.

Unless I read something wrong, there may have just been a nav update like a week ago. I just got my CX-5 so I'm new at this, but in looking around at one of the Mazda app websites I thought I saw a recent update.

That's encouraging, will appreciate more details. Just checked my Mazda Connect account again (Free Updates page at mazda-na.naviextras.com) but it's still showing:

MAP OF NORTH AMERICA
Latest release: 2015 Q4
The latest map for North America.
Include: USA, Canada and Mexico.
Road coverage with over 11 519 300 of updated roads.

I found this statement: A NEW MAP UPDATE WAS MADE AVAILABLE ON January 12, 2017. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR MAP UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS at this address http://infotainment.mazdahandsfree.com/navigation-updatemymaps?language=en-US

I haven't tried it yet but it might be what you're looking for.
