New 2017 CX-5 Revealed

I haven't been here long enough to see "babble about luxury". Though I have seen it elsewhere. Not one person that I have noticed is debating the cost of this device. We are discussing why some of us want it and others don't.
If you want luxury, buy another car. It's ridiculous to be so brand loyal to a company that... since your ready to go for a luxury car, they should make one.
Same with the liftgate argument. Get a CRV if you want that feature. Problem solved. :D

This coming from Saab brand loyalist. I've owned 3 and coerced my wife into owning 2. I understand brand loyalty. But if there's a must have feature your brand doesn't offer. Time to move on...
As a Saab brand loyalist, I have always had some form of a hatchback for a lot of years. I can count on one hand the number of times in 12 or more years that I struggled to manually open my hatch. and have fingers left over. I am sorry you are so ridiculously busy that you don't have 90 seconds to return a cart to the store.
This car may not be for you then, Mr. Busy Guy. lol

(Please read this as a tongue in cheek reply, and not trying to be a prick).
This is a great argument. Perhaps it's time to move on. There is no shame, no broken hearts, no dividing of property or children. Just...Move..on. Realise you could nitpick a luxury brand for the same faults, or charging so much for similar features vs the economy brand.

What you have to ask is, "At what point do I just have to accept a spade for a spade?" It's not a bad thing, it's just no longer my thing.

I just visited my friend who is a Mazda salesman. The narrative is that Mazda is working at going after the Acura demographic.

Those of you looking for a "racing" CX-5 made for the track are probably going to be sorely disappointed. [emoji23][emoji23]

Wife and I went to the Philly auto show Saturday. New CX5 is there roped off so you can't get closer than 10 feet. I must say it looks really nice in person. My wife commented on seeing the power passenger seat controls and rear facing climate controls. The interior really looks high end and the outside flows well. Looks very upscale and should continue to be a huge hit for Mazda. There was a ton of activity in the Mazda section with the convertible MX 5 and RF fastback being the most popular attractions. I want one! Downside is my wife gravitated to ever car and SUV 50k and up.

Are you saying 2nd-gen CX-5 has rear climate controls located next to the newly added rear AC vents?

There are now rear facing vents for second row but there are no rear controls that I can see in video below......

some observations..... Super quiet once the videographer closed the doors. Japan model second row headrests have the lower profile than US models improving rear visibility a lot. Start button located in a more prominent location than current model which is obscured by the wiper stalk. 2017 still has a CD slot which is surprising as most mfr have deleted that for cost savings. IMHO, if you stare long enough from the front one member said it looks like a catfish, I didn't get that at first but after looking at this video he's right that horizontal crease along the bottom edge looks like the car is smiling at you,

Well, there is the power lift gate everyone was asking for.....

I wonder if there is a Signature trim for the CX-5 like they did no the 9?

Hi. I the first 13 - 15 seconds of the video from the link, I can see in the multimedia display something like an image from a lateral camera, like the one found of Nissan. Do you also think it is some system of surround video cameras on the new Mazda CX-5?

On the highest spec 15/16 models here in Australia, we get a passenger side camera that looks along the kerb -it's mounted in the passenger side mirror. Very handy.

@Moolighter: Thank you very much for the information. Yes it is very handy. I hope that Mazda will also offer a 360 degrees image around the car as Nissan offer in the cars he sells in Europe, like on X-Trail, Qashqai or Navara NP300.

Two features that I saw in the video that increase the perceived quality are a spray on flock covering inside the glovebox, incuding the interior of the glovebox door and a fully carpeted trunk (or boot in the UK :D ) interior. This will save scrape marks from luggage etc. Even the cheapest VW brands (Skoda and Seat) have flocked gloveboxes and trunks/boots.

I'm not interested in carpets in boots, first thing i do is line a new car out on the sides, and add a waterproof tray.

I carry wet fishing equipment regularly.

Perceived quality to me is from driving a car, so what i see and hear, along with feel, determines my opinion of a car, among other things. I'm not really interested in what's behind the front seats, no interest in rear heating vents for example, having had them on an xtrail and never used them.

So i think we all have a different viewpoint on what's quality.

My 2015 lease ends late May this year. Mazda keeps bugging me to come in and start making arrangements to buy it or trade on a new model. Our local auto show is March so hope to get a close look at the 2017. I'm still turned off that the cabin power window/door lock buttons aren't illuminated.

Time will tell...

I know! It's just like how the redesigned CR-V only has a 4 way power passenger seat and no heated rear seats! Lame!
