Got a CX-3 or thinking of getting one?

NYDailyNews awarded the CX-3 as 2016 "City SUV" winner:

I did see a CX-3 next to my CX-5 at the dealer, and it does look cute and beautiful, but my prior research praised the 2.5L of the CX-5 and rated the 2.0L in CX-3 as only adequate. Also, the main reason I went with a CUV/SUV for the first time is mainly for the cargo room.

However, everyone has different needs. A co-worker of my wife just got a brand new 2016 CX-3 after crashing his old car last month.

"City suv"? What won "rural sports car "? Lolz

The Miata, of course :-) (well, they call the award "Fun Car")
Haha! I just found the Miata to have way too much roll. At least, the older one I have experience with. I get that they are amazing cars, but I love the feel of the brz in comparison. The Miata remains the pinnacle of drivable and accessible handling dynamics though, it can't be argued. I was just surprised at the wallowing in my sample.

ok, just now spoke to the guy who has bought a CX3. Reasons: the car doesn't feel like a SUV from outside. It looks like a sedan ..... he doesn't want a true sedan. This was the only choice then. Go figure!

One of the video reviews of the MX-5 said that one of the reasons why it was tuned to have so much roll was to get a good grip without sacrificing road comfort. Something to do with tire foot print. I think Dave Coleman was the one trying to explain it. It would be a hard deciding between a BRZ/FT86(FR-S) or MX-5. If it was a second vehicle, I would definitely get the MX-5 Club.

I remember reading that, but more about safety feedback. Found it:
http://arstechnica.com/cars/2015/09/the-case-against-grip-as-evidenced-by-the-2016-mazda-mx-5-miata/2/

"Since the Miata's beginning, it has exhibited no shortage of body roll during hard cornering, and this is a conscious effort, Coleman said. By tuning a car for extremely high-roll stiffness—where it's difficult to notice cornering speed due to lack of body roll—you mask one channel of communication to the driver. Nobody wants to fly blind by masking roll; you're cutting off tangible communication. Instead, it comes down to understanding and predicting what's going to happen as cornering forces build to their breaking point and beyond."

I would definitely get the FRS/BRZ. I don't dispute what you're saying, it's just that I'm used to "stiffer" cars, so the "harshness" doesn't bother me, and the stiffer suspension ultimately allows for more grip if you throw a stickier tire on there. The BRZ/FRS twins are becoming pretty affordable, too! It's really hard not to snag a clean 2013 and then supercharge it (vs. turbo, due to heat, and piping/annoyance of install, but mainly for the instant torque the SC offers). You could have a helluva fun car for $20K, including the suspension/rims/tires to deal with it. Brakes would up it a little bit, but the stock brakes would be fine unless you did a lot of serious high-speed blasts or hotlapped it.

That would give you a 2900# car with around 250whp. A very fun vehicle, without too much power, but plenty to surprise an unsuspecting person or two!

...or just wait for the actual STi BRZ, which sooner or later will arrive...

^That would be so much fun! Look at the tq!

On another note...I wonder if Chris has shot himself in the foot by limiting his CX-5's roll in the corners? He's totally spit in Mazda's face, it seems! :p
