NEMOC Random BS Thread

Thanks for the offer but I've now got the NC which is a different design. From my research Mazda sold one under the MS name for only a couple of years so they are now hard to find. Nik has one and decided against running it and I've been tempted by it for a few weeks now. But some people say in the low rpms it makes the cabin too boomy. Wish he was closer so I could take a ride in the car with it first.

Forgot thT you totaled you nb! Well if it's boomy at low rpm's then you're just going to have to keep the rpm's up!!! :)

Confirmation will be tomorrow, but it's been agreed on.

I'm buying my RX-8 back from the guy I sold it to 2 years ago. He has only put 5,000 miles on it, and refurbished a lot of stuff that was just old and worn, so I'm getting it back in better condition than I sold it for. I'll be taking Amtrak out to Seattle and wandering around the Pacific Northwest before driving it back. 12 days total counting the train trip out there and down time at each of my sister's homes at different points in the trip.

Rather excited. :)

He is living the dream in Pheonix. getting yhe house ready to go on the market in the next 2 mounths. I will try not to wait a year next time. ZOOM ZOOM WAYNE

Hi Mark The town of Bluffton is right there Palmetto Bluff is 1 of the areas but is very pricey there are at least 12 or more developments in that area. take a walk through the old part of Bluffton. Have you been to the beach on Hilton Head at the rotory off Pope ave

Hey Wayne, glad to see your still around. Yes loving the RV life so far.

Jeff, I might have some winter wheels and rims. Will check when I get home.

Currently in Roanoke VA. Will leave here Saturday and slowly make my way home. Will be back by the 13th.

TGIF! Any big plans for the weekend? Some R&R for me. Had the knee scoped yesterday, all went well and the dr. found a cartilage defect on the left side that was 1/4" long and torn halfway through so he cleaned that out. Said that would cause my consistent pain and swelling so I should be on my way to healing as I type. :)

haha I could probably live with it but the trick would be when Tam is in the car with me.

Awesome news Mike! I know you missed the car and have been toying with the idea of buying another RX-8 so that's cool that you can buy your old one back and even better that's it refreshed! Enjoy your trek home and safe travels!

Oh ok Bruce. No rush though, you and Mary get settled back in. I won't need them for a few months. :)

Safe travels back home.

Turns out I'm flying thanks to timing and prices. I'll have to do the train trip some other time.

But the purchase is locked in. He already put down a deposit on a replacement RX-8, a 2010 R3. Flying out on the 23rd. Leaving Seattle the morning of the 24th: Seattle WA -> Portland OR -> Columbia River Gorge OR -> Boise ID -> Craters of the Moon National Park ID -> Idaho Falls ID -> Grand Teton National Park WY -> Yellowstone National Park WY -> Casper WY -> Cheyenne WY -> Kansas City KS -> Warrensburg MO

Then gonna stay there at my sister's and "work from home" the rest of that week, finishing the drive home the following weekend with a stop off at my other sister's in OH Saturday night/Sunday.

My 4th time crossing from coast to coast, all 4 with this same car. I've been to 45 states, 37 of them in this RX-8. In another month or two, I'll increase that to 47 total, 39 in this RX-8.

I might be in town that weekend. I'll have to find a way to give him my number so we can grab a beer. Road Atlanta is about 20 mins from my house.

I hear you!!! Robin says I ruined the car with all that "noise" it makes!

Took the day off today for two reasons. One was another day of rest for my knee, the second was I got new summer tires mounted on Tamz 3. Went with some Nokian Entyre 2.0s in the stock 205/55/16.

Impressive! Guessing Alaska and Hawaii will be those last two elusive states, what is the third on that list?

LMAO Yeah she tolerated the P5, not sure she'd be so forgiving given the much smaller cabin in the Miata.

Finally back home. Arrived early afternoon. Nothing like seeing bits of snow and the lake is still frozen over.

Mom has a list of chores that I will start tomorrow as well as working on both cars and the rig while it's down for 2 weeks.

But beautiful weather today and for the rest of the week.

Drive back was worry free and easy but I have to ask, what the heck is up with I81 in PA. It's a piece of s***!!! Potholes everywhere and try dodging them with 8 tons of vehicles. Like driving a drunk elephant.

Was there a war with mortar fire? Literally the worst interstate I drove on all winter.

Glad to hear you made it home in one piece Bruce. Sadly all PA roads are like that and why the gas tax was recently increased last year. Money is supposedly going into the transportation fund to repair roads and bridges. I guess we'll find out this Summer just how much of that money is actually going to be used for road repairs. :/

North Dakota. Driving the 8 out to Seattle 2 years ago I had to pick between ND and SD for the transit, and decided I wanted SD more so I could see the Black Hills and Mt Rushmore.

Kentucky and Arkansas are the two that will be added when I make a big loop seeing friends and family. No one in either, but I'd plan it out so that I'd be passing through each of those.

You should see Long Pond Rd. It's in the top 5 worst damaged roads I've ever driven on including unpaved roads, and I have to drive on it almost every day now. Frost heaves high enough that I'm bottoming out the MSM on 'normal' asphalt unless I'm really careful. Potholes riddling the road so badly that in several places the normal path to take is actually through someone's front yard to avoid them. Whole sections of the road on several curves that have 'slid' away from the rest of the road, leaving a jagged chasm between the sections. One section that has been reduced to a 1-lane road, right before/after a blind hill crest.

They started patching the road last week. And by patching, I mean that they are pouring in some loose asphalt across 1/3rd of a section of damage and rolling over it with a dump truck until it is only slightly less bumpy than what they patched, leaving the rest of the damage. Some of their patches are 3-4 inches tall.

The road would actually be improved and allow higher speeds if they just layed down 1/2" of dirt or gravel for the ~6 mile length.

On the other hand, I saw 4 different NJ highway repaving operations starting up on my drive home last night.

I've been away from ma roads for over a week now, but I don't see the msm coming out till the middle of May, maybe ! The roads are just awful!! Potholes that swallow full size vehicles...the roads are littered with car parts/body panels bent rims! One hole took out six cars on the highway two weeks ago!

Roads in Kingston ON and Ottawa seem to be in good shape. Hoping I81 is better in the fall.

Been busy, doing some work for mom and catching up on maintenance for various vehicles. Got Mary's car up and running. Started 1st crack and runs beautifully. Probably the best car I've owned for the beating and abuses it's taken over the years. Changed the oil and filter and the CEL that popped on just before I put her away hasn't returned.

Did an oil change on the RV. 1st time I've had the oil filter gasket stick on to the oil housing. Still need to chase an electrical gremlin in the RV for the radio and keyless lock. Checked our site out for May and looks like we will be in on the 1st, starting work on the 3rd.

Mia needs some TLC. Replaced a burnt LF turn signal bulb, the right went in late fall. I'm surprised they lasted this long, originals, as they have been doing DRL duty since I moved back to Canada in 2011.

Oil change on Mom's tractor and still have to do my sisters.

Mom also backed into Mia the day after I got back. She said she was trying to miss Mary's car, I wished she had hit Mary's car.

Shrugged my shoulders as I couldn't really yell at her, she was very upset. Lower passenger door is dented in a few places and the rear quarter before the wheel. The door works and nothing major, just hurts to look at it. DOH.

Hi all, leaving FL this afternoon heading back to NC.
