Scoobs Build Thread

I just got an OTHER FREAKENNN NAIL in one of my tires. It's a slow leak but **** man it's the second in 2 weeks. I don't even drive in construction zones to avoid this....(pissed)

The wheels I want now, yeah I changed my mind about a 1000x but **** it. If I didn't buy it yet I can change till the last minute :)

I wonder if Rod from Font can get these for me at a great price :-) ??

DD set-up Just for the hell of looks of course

Front
Advanti Storm S1 Black 15x8" + Toyo R1R P205/50R15

Rear
Advanti Strom S1 Black 15x9" + Toyo R1R P225/45R15

Track days because performance doesn't includes lots of understeer

switching the DD set up around, Front to rear, rear to front and adding a 5mm spacer up front. Those wide tires and more narrow rear will help rotate the car or make it more balance. I've done that with my old Focus ZX3 with the same tire dimensions but it was all on 15x7" OZ Ultra's.
It worked great but I think I didn't the right size wheels back then, I intent to fix this with the 2.

What do you guys think about this set up?

In theory it sounds like a good concept, but I think you'll tear the front fenders off with the 9"wheels up front and the 225's installed. I had 225's on 7.5" wheels and rubbed the strut housings and fenders (not the liners, but the fender edges) under hard cornering loads under full compression (think on ramps and off ramps)

I know some have done it, but I wouldnt put it on my car. The staggered setup has merit though, just with a 15x7 with spacers and a 15x7.5 then swap them for the track if you want to drive around with the wide rear look.

Those wheels are great looking though. See if you can test fit them before you buy them..

There's always the 15x8" and 15x7" to play with. The wheels fit with 15x8" 25+, my friend has them on his MX-5 with 205/50R15 and we did a test run. No problems with rear or front fitments so far. The 15x9" has 35+ offset and we will try them on next summer to see if it fits because he's buying them for his MX-5 with 225/45 tires.
It's good to have a bud that is buying what you want and taking the time to help to do test runs.

I will get a set of 4 15x8" 25+ this winter with 205/50 toyo's R1R, if the 15x9" fits I will get 2 wheels + 2 R1R p225/45. Baby steps cost less money in the long run :)

I got my fenders rolled also

There's just something about wheels that look good on a Miata ALSO look good on a 2. Maybe its proof why people sometimes refer to the 2's handling as a FWD NA Miata. (wiggle)

Also those Advantis will look great on your car!

The 2 is the only fwd car that reminds me of my old Miata.

I will own an other MX-5 one day, maybe the new 2016 gen coming out soon. There's nothing like a well balanced RWD car and I miss it a lot

Ok, update on the build.... I'm jacking the 2 back up with the oem springs before winter. Next spring I'll buy a set of Corksport dampers to add to the oem springs. Corksport Front swaybar, Corksport Strut tower brace..... and on top of that a set of Yokohama A035 Gravel Tire 205/65-15.

I still need a Corksport Skid plate, I will bug Derrick for one. He must know where I can find one or he may find a way to make a last batch.

I decided to change my plans with my Mazda2 because of the state of the roads in Montreal. There's pot-holes everywhere, construction zones with lots of holes and gravel. The city looks like s*** and it's killing my car. So I say fck it and I'm building me a go everywhere (almost) Mazda2 lol

That is a serious tire choice. Dedicated gravel tires will wear really really fast on pavement. One of my buddies used to DD an H-6 swapped WRX that was actually built for stage rally, with similar gravel tires. They were shot after like 4,000 miles on pavement.

Edit: We should start a Group Buy thread for the skidplate. There have to be 3-4 of us at this point. If we can get like 6 more...

I agree, we should ask to do a last chance group buy for the skidplate.

I want to get the hard compound v70, I'll e-mail them about wear on the tires. I checked on some WRX forums and the soft compound wear like you said about 4000miles but the the hard compound wears out past 20,000miles. But again forums info there, I'll check before buying.

I saw a VW bug with Khumo Road Venture MT LT215/75R15 and I had to build me a little rally car. I don't think that tire could fit in the fenders of our cars with oem springs on and no fender modifications done to them. But the price is better than the rally tires and they would last a long time lol

Scrap the idea of jacking the 2 back up, I looked a both our 2's side by side and the lowered stance looks way too amazing to screw it up by rising it back up lol

Would love to get in on a skid plate GB. If there is one thing that kind of bothered me with the M2, it is the lack of any underside coverings below the engine bay...

What happened to the car, I stay in total suspense(freak)

Nothing so far happened to the 2 other than cleaning up the engine bay because the ecu was bouncing arround on top of the valve cover hahaha. I put it beside the battery for now.
This summer I will upgrade to coil overs. Also I will buy me a set of tires, if I can I will buy a set of 6ul 15x8.
I need to change the rotors and pads on both Mazda2's.
Rodrigo Font will get a call also for a set of race header and Corksport will get an order for their CBE + race pipe. Also a shift plate for our 2nd Mazda2, GF hates her stock shifter.

I got to see if my friend can make me an intake manifold to mount a eaton m45 or m62 supercharger. I will have a custom pulley made to drive the supercharger from the alternator like we have seen done before on an other 2 ;)

Some up to money, all this needs money to happen and with the house , kids ... I got to make choices but the 2 will come along since I will drive this thing till it cant move
