Who else is waiting impatiently for the 2016 CX-5?

So after 2.5 hours at the dealership and the black not being there (transfer from another dealership) I bought red instead. Quite like it. Bad picture but this is the weather we are having.

I should add that I tested USB with my iPhone and still no text messages. It did show my album art through USB and it does NOT through BT. Which is kind of a pi$$ off. Overall happy so far.

Nice colour choice Congrats. As for text messages, mazdahandsfree.com says 'SMS/Text - Receive Message' is compatible with iPhone 4S, 5 and 6. Haven't checked others.
My wife hasn't been able to get it to work with her iPhone, but I haven't really tried it out myself.

I hear you. I don't even want to spend the 30k on a GT, so I'll probably go with the Touring which is about 27k. Anyone know about the rims on the touring.

My salesperson told me the certification they went through on the 2016 told them the messaging wouldn't work with the iPhones. I haven't tried it as I've only been able to hook it up to the bluetooth so far.

So I just put her through the paces a bit. There is a road in my backyard called Trabuco Canyon Road. It's very popular with motorcycle owners (past Indian owner myself) b/c it largely resembles an S with beautiful trees over hanging. There is a biker bar called Cooks Corner at an intersection at the beginning/end of the road depending on which way you are going. Anyways I got loose on that road tonight. Now I've been driving pick up trucks almost all my life and I'm 44. I rented a late model Corvette last year for a trip up the 1 to Monterey. Decided then and there I wanted a sports car b4 I get too old to enjoy it so I'm tracking the Tesla Model 3 but that's another story.

All I can say is that this CX-5 was a BLAST on that road! My wife said She felt like she was 20 again. I was hugging those curves, crossing over lanes, gunning it on the straight aways etc...I was pushing the limits of my driving ability which I'm sure isn't much but I was coasting in to curves, accelerating half way through etc...Anyway I never anticipated an SUV could handle like that, although I admittedly have little to compare it to. We removed the headrests, folded the seats down, opened the moonroof and layed in the back for a while out in the "forest" and really just enjoyed the experience. It was awesome.

to say your Description put a smile on my Face !!! Then to hear about just relaxing and enjoying the Moonroof in the Forest was

Anyone know about the rims on the touring?

I'll answer my own question.. I believe they are the same as the sport model. I just went to check out the 2016 touring at the local dealership and I am pretty sure the rims are the same as the sport model. Anyways the guy took my name and number and claims he will call me back when they have more information and such on the car. He said they got them in 2 months early and wanted to sell me a 2015 but I said I'll wait. Now that I think about it, I don't know if he didn't want to be bothered with me or if he really doesn't know if the 2016's on his lot were ready for release.. He did not even try to get me to negotiate or anything.

Have you checked whether the seat heaters are any better than the old model? I hear people get frustrated with how slow they are.

The seat warmers don't seem to warm up any faster than on my '13. It takes about 5 minutes for them to get warm.

Any chance to check the high beam control? I often drive in rural areas so would be cool feature. I never had a car with this feature but know some incarnations have been around since the early 70's. I guess Ford or GM discontinued their version in the late 80's as a result of road reflectors that came about during that time causing false positives.

Not gonna sell my '15 but certainly open to a '16 to replace another vehicle. I'd probably be in the market for a full checkbox '16 if that happens. It sounds like '16 is a nice evolution to the line.

Just signed the bill of sale for a 2016 CX-5 GT without the Tech package (I'm in Canada) this afternoon!

My local dealer did not have the black GT available so I need to wait for them to get back to me on Tuesday with an updated inventory that they are expecting in the coming weeks.

Only thing that will sway me now is a bigger motor or the diesel (unless the aftermarket for engine support explodes). I waited 2 yrs for a diesel but eventually went into the 2.5.

We got the CX-5 for around mid $39k (after 13% Ontario tax) with 0% (we had a 1% Mazda loyalty rate reduction) financing for 3 years.

I am in Nova Scotia and had a trade in (2010 Mazda 3 GS Sport) with high KM's. I paid MSRP for the CX-5 did well on my trade in and got Winter Tires and Rim's added for no additional cost. Probably not the best deal but I was very close to signing for the 2015 about 5 times (negotiating since December) and I am very happy to have waited for the 16.
