I remember complaining to the salesman a my dealership when I bought the car, that I felt mazda was pulling "apple tricks" by "updating" their cars with stuff that should have been there from day 1... I think mazda is intentionnaly holding off on bits and pieces on first year models, just because its easier to add them later on than to come up with actual new parts and updates.
I still don't get why the CX5 doesn't have paddle shifters.
I'm happy they will finally have the headlights and tail lights they should have always had... I mean, come on, everybody is doing the led strips, even my previous 2008 mazdaspeed had led tail lights, and mazda comes out with a 2014 model that doesent have them... Not to mention, that they had the chance to update the 2014 MY when coming out with the new 3, 6 and cx9 that all have led stips headlights on gt trims.
I'll be curious to see if they come out with a mazdaspeed cx5 after the mazdaspeed 3 is released, rumor is that the engine will be a turbocharged skyactiv 2.5 making more than 300hp.

With the delay going on with diesel, i wouldn't be surprised that a mazdaspeed cx5 could happen before diesel does (if it ever does in america).
This engine, wider wheels, then add a panoramic sunroof and bigger head unit and paddle shifters, and sell it the same price as the top trims of ford escape, vw tiguan and hyundai santafe. I would pick the maxdaspeed cx5 in a heartbeat over those, hell for that price, some audi Q5 and BMW X3 shoppers, would probably come and test drive it.
