The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Haha, I love to play soccer. But I don't really watch TV other than Netflix.

Just being an ass, again. Resume your conversation. :)

But if anyone wants to kick the soccer ball around sometime let me know.

I'd actually love to get back into playing recreational soccer again, but since I tore my ACL, I can't really kick anything like I used to, even after surgery, it still causes pain.

I'm not sure how it will play out, Germany is in the driver's seat as far as goal diff so they may come out really conservative or go balls to the wall to beat Klinsman
That's the other possibility but I really don't know if there's animosity there or not. Germany is probably the least "emotional" of the group and that could help us. For once I think it'll benefit us to start a bit tentative. If the game turns into a pissing match we're likely to lose. Germany really doesn't have one player like Ronaldo who's off day can work to our advantage.

that's why they kicked me out of the country
I heard they kill people over soccer there.

I look at soccer the same way I look at most other stick and ball sports. I don't care a whole heck of a lot about them. I'll watch them if they're on somewhere, but don't follow the sport very much. I know that several of you guys talking about it are soccer fans year in, year out. What I don't like are the fly-by-nighters who give next to two s**** about it 3 years, then all of a sudden are into it 150% during the World Cup. Those people boggle my brain.

I've never been into sports. Watching them that is. All my friends know all the names/stats/details/mom's maiden name/who they lost thir v card too/ and it all. I just never cared I loved playing sports I just don't care to know about the people doing it better than I haha. Rather do than study it

Sigh... unfortunately yes. '94 world cup, Colombian player accidentally scored against his own team, was killed because that caused someone to lose a bet. Also, most of the people that go to the stadiums to watch the local games are lower class, which means they're drunk and or high on whatever the **** they can get a hold of. Fights break out, and sometimes people are killed. My family isn't rich by any means so I don't consider myself above others, but over half the population is lower class so unfortunately they do lots of stupid things. Even now people are getting hurt when they go out to celebrate, so stupid.

Heh, 99% of the time I don't have the time/energy/drive to go out of my way to watch each game..... etc.
With google now on my phone, i've been able to follow the scores a bit more often for Manchester United this year. I also just got cable for the first time in 3 years, and can actually watch sports channels as well, but I'm not sure I will keep following after the world cup. It's darn convenient to stream the noon and 3/4 games on my phone and listen with headphones while keeping my head down in my work.

I don't go out of my way to watch any game, but if it's on when I sit down at night, or nothing else is on, I watch the games, except for baseball, I can't stand watching baseball, unless I am at the game.

I didn't mean that in jest. It's a VERY big deal in some places. Wasn't there a "Soccer War" as well?

I can appreciate all "sports." I use quotation marks because the word is being thrown around a lot these days. There are some I really don't care about and won't watch but I won't hate on any of them. I don't particularly like basketball but can appreciate the skill involved. I certainly won't butt in to cite all the perceived wrongs of the sport if I see/hear other people discussing it. I don't know why it's become acceptible to do that with soccer.

It's always more fun to do the sport than watch the sport.

And everybody but me hates baseball on T.V. :( With any sport except an OSU football game I am generally doing something else while the game is on. Sports are better than 90-95% of the T.V. shows that are on.

NBA sucks though. That I don't watch.

I know. Don't know about soccer wars, but from what I've seen its really plain stupid behavior from people who are drunk or high. I think justifying this kind of behavior by saying they're passionate about soccer is just bulls***

+3, and I can add watching/knowing about racing/racing teams/racers into this as well.

TBH, I hardly watch any TV.

Me! I used to play, then I got lazy and out of shape

Thursday could prove interesting. We're guaranteed through with a win or a tie. Same with Germany. Makes me think the game could be very tentative. That is, both teams playing back until one starts applying more pressure.

My bet is that both teams come out tentative and may press a bit later in the first half. If it's tied at halftime, it is going to be one boring second half as neither side will want to make a mistake and give the game away.

Everyone one does what Zusi did. They did add a minute because it was 4 before the substitution.

Of course you can use my chant!

Yes they do and heard that the ref made the change from 4 to 5 minutes. Have never known them to do that in the Premier League or is it just amplified due to the "World Cup Stage"?

Why thank you kind sir!

That is why I think Germany will come out conservative but what do I know? haha

Get out and stay out!

I'd be happy to come over and kick the ball around but a 12hr round trip seems kind of silly for that. (silly)

that's why they kicked me out of the country

I'm not as big a fan as some on here but do like following the U.S. during World Cup, CONCACAF and Friendlies. I'll watch MLS too if I happen to come across it. A couple of years ago I had Fox Soccer and it was great, they woudl replay Premier Leauge games weeknights and I'd watch Man U., Man City, Real, Barca, etc....then it became NBCSports and their soccer coverage is null and void unless I want to spend my Sat and Sun mornings in front of the tv. I tried to Tivo games but found I have no self control and would ffwd to goals and such to try and speed things up so I could get other work done. lol

This...you can be passionate without being violent!

And to make it more random, guy on mnet posted a pic of his odometer.....80085 (boobs2)

Friend just sent this to me also, seems interesting http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/06/24/california-company-reinvents-rotary-engine/
