New CX-5 GS Owner

:
2013 CX-5 GS
Greetings all,

This is my fist import vehicle, I have always bought GM, now I wanted a quality product(lol) and Im pretty sure thats what I got.

Im picking up my 2013 CX-5 GS on Sunday. Ill be doing some light modding in the first few months and will post pics when I pick it up.

Ill be Nightshading the tail lights, Plasti-dip the rims, de-badge the rear and do 5k hids in the headlights and fogs.

Ive been doing some creeping around and have some questions.

So I wanna disable the DRL's, I would imagine all I do is pull a fuse or relay. The reason for this is because I like the clean look of the hid's over the halgeon yellowish tinge.

So can I disable the drls, install the H11's into the projector spot, then if needed flash the highbeams, which should be the same bulb as the drls I think. This way no lights should be on during the day when driving, correct ?

From what I have read, there is no way for me to convert the drl's to led or hid because I do not have the Tech package. Any help would be appreciated :)

Ill also install some led switchbacks, and swap all the interior bulbs to leds.

Thanks for the help in advance :)

oh yah, does my model have the adaptable headlights ? and that fancy feature where you cant run over someone on purpose ?

Do you want to run someone over on purpose?! (lol2) welcome to the forum. If you don't have the technology package , then you don't have the AFS-adaptive front lighting system and bi-xenon HID lamps, which are outstanding. Look next the rearview mirror. If you don't have a cluster of sensors next to your mirrors in the pic, then you don't have SCBS-Smart City Brake Support. Does it actually prevent running someone over? I'll let you know the next time someone pisses me off! (boom08) Be sure to posts some pics!

haha thanks bud, Im super excited about the Mazda. I do'nt think mine has all the fancy sensors, guess I'll have to just avoid pedestrians

Very nice. If they had this colour as a 2015 option, it's what we would have bought

I'm pretty sure Deep Crystal Blue Mica is still available on 2015s. Are you in the US? A coworker of mine has a 2013 with this (or a very similar color).

I've managed to trigger the SCBS system several times. There is a controlled gate with an arm which comes down at work. When exiting the the gate, the system will see the arm and slam on the brakes. It's a bit unnerving and I'm thinking of permanently disabling SCBS.

I, too, have a gated arm at work, but can't seem to activate my SCBS. And I've been wanting it to engage it so I can see how it feels. I believe you that it can be an unnerving feeling. Just wait until autonomous cars come out in 5-7 years (boom). My gate is about as tall as the hood, and I have to get about 5" to the gate before it lifts up, but no car interaction.

I'm in Canada, we have a greyish blue... Reflex Blue, maybe?

Greyish blue is Blue Reflex, my dark blue is Deep Crystal, and the bright blue is Sky blue (discontinued after 2014 :( ). But it don't matter, as blue is the fastest of all CX-5 models (rlaugh)!

Thought i'd piggy back onto this thread.

I also just purchased a new 2015 CX-5 GS!

I previously had a 09 Mazda3. Never had a problem and loved it whoch is why i stayed within the Mazda family.

Looking forward to getting my new CX-5!
