Trunk Release Sticking?

Just wondering if anyone else out there has issues sometimes opening the trunk. I seem to always have this issue when the vehicle is on, I will stop, hop out and hit the button on the trunk door under the Mazda logo and it won't open, then I will go back inside the vehicle and even hit the unlock button but it still won't open. Eventually after pressing it like 10 times it will finally open but it seems strange to me! Anyone else experience this?

Yea I was at the airport trying to open it and could not get it, with the unlock inside the car or the button outside; I picked up the key and it opened from proximity. Might be a safety thing so someone can't just come open it but after I click unlock it should override..

I am having a problem with it closing all the way. I swear its closed and I get in the car and the dash tells me the trunk is open. I go to check and its still latched but popped open just a bit so I open and make sure to really slam it closed. I will take it in if this continues since the car is only a week old today!

The latch is electro-mechanical, which means that there is a lag time when you open the hatch so that the mechanism has time to reset itself before you close it again. If you hesitate before closing it you can actually hear it reset. So if you're opening it and immediately closing it again, you're probably not giving it time to reset itself.

Mine does the same thing. It is frustrating.

Just wondering if anyone has had any dramas with closing the boot on the CX-5 on uneven ground; we had the car on a slight incline to the left; 3 or 4 degrees (campsite...long story); when we'd finished with the boot, it wouldn't clip & close; and the car wouldn't lock (obviously as the boot was still open).

Would take it back to the dealer; however, it's 4 weeks old and already been back 3 times :)

Cheers

I posted the same thing. Sometimes I can slam it hard and it still will show door ajar and not lock the doors while driving. Crappy latching mechanism...

Paris, the hatch will be open for minutes at a time and still not recognize closure. Regardless of the time the hatch is open, if the hatch is closed it should know it! Believe me, technology exists today in 2014 to allow for that. As it is, the car doors cannot be locked while driving at highway speeds!
