SoCal: New owner

Hi, everybody! (Hi, Dr. Nick!)

My wife and I purchased a new 2014 MAZDA5 Grand Touring on May 10. I am really enjoying driving it so far. It drives a lot better than a CX-5 in my opinion because the driving dynamics are much more car-like than a crossover or SUV. We just had our first child in April and this vehicle is replacing a 2011 Volkswagen GTI 4-door 6MT that is almost done with its lease. I decided to pull the trigger now since 0% financing is available right now and I doubt the current generation 5 will get the Skyactiv powertrain. I am not counting on a third generation Kodo design 5 to happen either. My other car is a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan (not a STi) with over 173,000 miles. Mopho and I have many mutual friends through my WRX ownership and my wife being an automotive journalist.

curious how your wife, the auto journo, thinks of drivers in the good 'ol MPK? I almost got the car at Galpin, but ended up going to Mazda Orange.

I can't stand Asian drivers, and live in the area where feels like 80% of them are... and my wife is Asian, so I prefer to drive when we go out

I find Latinos with busted hoopties and minimal insurance far more dangerous on the road than Asians (who will cover my car if they nail me). In fact, I'd like to see a demolition derby between a FOB (with vader mask, gauntlet gloves) mom in an Odyssey versus a elderly Mexican gent in a '85 Corolla with nary a matching body panel. But who am i kidding, I'm crusing Valley Blvd in a ******* microvan that can't get out of its own way while the BEASTLY Commie next to me is rolling in a ML63 AMG (true story --- we pulled over into Yunnan Garden and I like: love your car dude).

I don't have a caucasian wife. I just admire others. From high school to post graduate school I only dated Caucasians. So I know the benefits. Just don't want to take them home. Its like my neighbors Murciealago and DB9. I look at it from afar, and sometimes touch and drive them, but I never bring it to my own garage.

My sig other is educated, professionally successful (MD PhD), and a fire cracker, like yours
