Decent rifles but not what I would consider a "nice" bolt gun. I would not buy one sight-unseen due to the use of corrosive ammunition and how it may have been stored over the years. If you get one that's been stored in a crate in Siberia for the last 70 years be prepared for a lot of cleaning. "Cosmoline" is one hell of a substance. They're cheap because there's actually millions of them out there. If you want a "nice" historical bolt gun and a Mosin why not look for an original 91?Does anyone here have a Mosin 91/30? I keep seeing them pop up for about 150 and I could always use another nice bolt gun.
Thanks, budCongrats Sohan

My brother and i both got a Mosin 91/30.we both snagged em for 150 from Cabelas one weekend, came with bayonet, ammo pouch and a bunch of other goodies.
i kinda just thought it was cool and the price was just too damn tempting to pass up. cleaning all the cosmoline was a bit of a PITA. its not the greatest shooter (keep in mind my brother and i both have .243's that split the same hole with 3 shot groupings from 100-200 yards) the Mosin is fun as hell, and at only 150 bucks if you ever run out of ammo it becomes a hell of a club LOL
Sweet, that's kind of how I was seeing it, its too good a deal to pass up, plus its accurate enough for general use as well.
I just skimmed this, but this guy is insane. He put $1000 bucks into his Mosin for the sake of seeing how accurate he could get one: http://www.alloutdoor.com/2014/02/0...ent=2014-02-11&utm_campaign=Weekly+Newsletter
Not my cup of tea, but hey, I also don't have 1k to toss at something for the hell of seeing how well it improves.
But that gun is worth it. The Mosin, half the interesting part about it is its so darn old, and replacing everything on it takes that away.
i agree, i bought the Mosin cause its kinda cool. the nostalgic feeling of it is what i like about it haha
