How many miles / km's on your 5 ?

'06 auto sport... 238k miles... Mostly reliable, but started to have some stalling and sputtering today. Religiously maintained.

Mazda brakes were an issue early on, and replaced an alternator, O2 sensors, plugs, and many headlights bulbs...

Cool! :)

Looks like you are the original owner? Have you replace anything on the ignition side (coils, plugs, starter)?

i sat in a Towncar that has 620K mi this wknd. the other black car (Expedition) that picked me up had 2.x million miles. i honestly didn't think fords were meant to go that far; would be happy this Mazford goes 200k.

Yes original owner... the ignition side has been reliable; only regular plug changes (3rd set now). Radiator cracked at 210k miles and lost the small long heater hose at around 200K miles. A couple of O2 sensors, and belts. Has been fed synthetic oil since 5k miles. The crappy OEM suspension (struts/shocks) blew fairly early... replaced with decent tokico parts at about 60k... still holding up. Goal is 300k, God willing.

37k miles on our '12. Only regularly scheduled maintenance, and new tires a month ago. May do trans fluid change from posts on here. Only issues so far:
Oil leak (oil filter seal failure).
Driver's seat squeak (went away on it's own).

53k on our 09.

She's only needed basic (some not so basic) maintenance (syn oil, plugs, air filters, brake pads, anti-freeze, sway bar bushings). I've also had to replace passenger side motor mount, full suspension, sway bar end link (dealer did it), & the crap Mazda battery.
I have a vacuum leak to track down and a trans flush to do but nothing too serious yet. Glad to hear yours is holding up so well!

Just turned 90K on our '09

Still on original front suspension and components. I did change the rear shocks @ 50K. After this winter and the curb/pothole beatings my 5 has endured, I may tackle the front end.

I hope that was not a typo and that you found Tokico products that work on the Mz5!! Do tell! When I last looked into Tokico, they don't offer anything for the Mz3/MS3/Mz5.

That's a bit of work for an '09 with 50K! Did you choose to do the plugs and anti-freeze that early? OE replacements are expensive but they are spec’d to last longer than 50K. I do recommend doing something with the ATF asap.

The plugs i did because she was starting to feel lethargic. Im a fanatic about stuff like that. the suspension on the other hand, was shot. She was floating and vibrating all over the highway. I drive hard and tow though so i blame myself for abusing the soccer mom suspension.

And the antifreeze i had to do. The passenger side fell into a ditch filled with water. I landed on the subframe and thankfully had the momentum to power out of it. i instantly smelled antifreeze and saw steam pouring outta that side. Sure enough the reservoir was empty. I still havent found the source of the leak although i recently found a spill on my new motor mount. Bad reservoir cap caused by giant pothole? :) Im monitoring. Whatever it is will show itself eventually

255,000km currently on my 2008 GT 5-spd manual bought new in March 2008. Mostly highway. Averages about 9.1L/100km. Replaced the rear shocks and one front wheel bearing (actually it comes with the whole spindle). I've changed the oil every 8000km (or every other month!) - doesn't consume a drop between changes. Replaced the coolant @ 120,000 and every 60,000km after. New front brake rotors at 155,000km - now the new ones vibrate a bit, not sure why, I barely use the brakes! I replaced the orig spark plugs at 220,000km myself. I replaced the transmission fluid at 224,000km - didn't make a difference on how it shifted. Currently there is a clunking sound from the rear when going slow over large bumps, hopefully just bushings on the roll bar because it drives straight and true down the road :) Original battery still starts it at -20C (although I do prefer to plug it in whenever I can).

That's it. I've always jumped in and driven away - never been stranded. Knock on wood! Hopefully I get another 100,000km out of it before it becomes unreliable. It's a wonderful vehicle. I hope Mazda brings out a new one to Canada and doesn't drop it from North America otherwise I don't know what I will buy when the time comes time to replace it.
