The Ohio Auto-X and Track Event chat thread

Why would a track day far away blow your motor but a track day at Mid-O/PittRace not? ;)

You kids and your silly big turbo's...

Well, just think of it this way. A highway pull (which is all you silly big turbo guys build for anyway) is going to be the same stress as accelerating out of a corner at any track. If it can hold up to a dick swinging contest, you'll be set for anything else you throw at it.

I thought you had to trade any logical thoughts you have or are going to have for a big turbo?

I'm sorry Patrick. I'm secretly just jealous because after all the money I spent on my turbo, and the money I'll spend on a tune, the best I'll ever end up with at the wheels is what the MS3 comes with stock at the crank. But it is good fun to rib each other now and again.

Ahh I don't care it's cool. I just like to work on my car and that's how I saw the progression. I don't but hurt easy. But Evan I'm saying the cost to bring the car home from far away is way more than mid ohio. Thats where I was going with that.

Touche, my friend.

Yeah, a 8 hour drive for a track day is too far for me too. Or at least that's the excuse I'll use this time because I'm too skeerd to track my car.

Honestly, I am scared to track Fatty. I still owe $6800 on it and don't want to buy another $3500 motor. It's just my anxiety. Once I get out there with all you guys I'm like "Ermergerd, this is so much fun!!!!". No worries, I'll see you guys out there at Mid-O and PittRace.

Don't worry, Evan's got a plan. He's going to pay off fatty, start coming up with a grand idea to build it as a badass track car, get 75% thru it, then sell it to Wes for crazy money and start over again.

:-P

No hate at all Evan, you made out like a bandit on that one.

In fairness to Evan, he wouldn't give up on the project until he bought fatty's replacement, say he's not going to mod it, and then buy a bunch of mods.

lol! +1 point to Phen and Nate.

I'm sure I'll still track it this year. With a new motor and all the mods I've got t'would be a shame not to. I just get nervous is all.

I really miss that black P5 though... It would have been so fun as a track/weekend car and about 1/3 the cost to maintain as Fatty. But alas.

I was shaking before I got out on the track at Mid Ohio. I am nervous as I don't want to miss something while I am building it right now and then pay for it later. Did get the turbo, mani, wastegate, downpipe, dump tube, occ's mounted last night. Pretty happy with how it looks

Everyone should be a little nervous about tracking their car. It is a pretty big risk.

I'm waiting till funds are available, but i really want to do an OCC. The Stage 2 kit from JBR looks pretty good:

I haven't looked, but i'm not sure how easy it is to get the pcv. I'll prolly email JBR when i get the funds, to see if the instructions include the removal (which i'm sure they do).

Where is the general consensus on where everyone installs theirs?

Tank the intake manifold off and it will make your life a lot easier. You don't take off the pcv unless you would like to make it harder than it needs to be
