The Ohio Auto-X and Track Event chat thread

That's a little too far out for me to pre-register right now. I may end up going though, we'll see in a few months.

^^^ I forgot about the rest of our AARP crew. Just making sure we'll have a decent group to hang out with. I'll sign up later.

I'm not preregistered but I'm definitely going. Hopefully the weather will be nicer than last year's event when everyone showed up.

And... to get everyone in the mood, I finally edited a video from the Sept 2nd event last season haha.

Sounds great! Watkins Glen sells out fast, I mean like within a couple of days. So I'll let you know when registration is set to open. I assume it's the same with Mosport (that's just easier to type :) ).

Have funds set aside already to go!!!! Did you get the Conti's yet?

My Dad did, yes. My wife is going to order a new set at some point as well.

So who is pre-registered for the AutoInterests May 5th @ Mid-Ohio?

Will, Pablo, Patrick, anyone else?
I doubt I will make it as I'm pretty sure that is fine also week. If I can make it so I don't have a final anywhere near it then I may go. Hope to have the car done being tuned and ready to go by then.

To stay in SMF or run PAX, that is the question. I just wish there was more cars in SMF that consistantly showed up over here. There is only 1 or 2 events whem there is more than 2 people in my class. I think index would push me a little bit in the right direction and I can always bump down when it comes to a bigger event or a group meet.

NWOR runs the "pro" index class right?

Do nationally competitive drivers run in that class regularly? If so, I'd run in that exclusively.

It's very helpful to see where you, and your car, stack up against the top drivers/cars.

so for example this one May 16-18 - NNJR PCA DE, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Lexington, Ohio (Instructed drivers: $425, Solo: $375)

spreads over a couple days so I have multiple days of track time for 375

Yes, that pricing for 3 days. In the past it has been 4 - 30 minute sessions per day. You will also have to add $20 for not being a PCA member.

Given your limited track experience I would very strongly recommend getting an instructor. The instructors are great with NNJR and it's well worth your money to get one in the car with you.
Plus, there is a very good chance that they won't let you run without one anyways. Just something to consider.

Yes they have a pro index class and almost everyone that races in that class places at the national events. NWOR has a page on their site that shows everyones index and gives them point for fun and I'm usually either right at the bottom or just out of contention. I'm hoping my. car will have less tuning issues this year and I don't have to worry about my PS breaking any more. Just have to shed a few more lbs and need a little more driver mod.
