Too low to go into the oil pan? huh? Youll def need to run angled fittings to get it to fit properly. Ill be putting mine in soon and I dont see any problems with the line meeting the fitting on my AWR race pan..
You might have an easier time of it running barbed fittings with some silicone hose instead of braided lines. There's no pressure in the oil drain; you just want the maximum diameter fittings and lines to drain oil as quickly as possible.
Okay apparently my efforts are waisted here. I originally posted that my drain is too low to even go in the oil pan. I am not going to use barbs and silicone hose on this engine. I have way to much invested to trust something like that.
So what exactly is the issue? Is the oil draining slowly back into the pan? Could we get pictured of your entire setup because it looks like you almost have a horizontal oil return line. You'll need to figure out a way to get it at a steeper angle. Like FAUDMSP mentioned there is an AWR race pan available to lower the oil return line but I personally would rather have it at the MBSP opposed to the oil pan. But either way, you'll need to size the SS braided line correctly because that's way too long.
I prefer the MBSP as opposed to the oil pan because there is no back pressure from the MBSP. It allows maximum flow with no impeding of the oil return.
I'd say uphill is worse though... Is there some kind of crazy big adapter on the bottom of the turbo for it to be hanging so low?? Mine is 14" with a 45 fitting... given a T2 but still not THAT much difference?
I'm not sure what there is to "trust" in an oil drain. Either the oil drains back into your pan or it doesn't. You're taking up a bunch of your vertical distance with fittings coming off the bottom of the turbo, and giving up the overkill of braided line and -AN fittings looks like it would grant you all the room you need.
I am not going to trust my 5,000 dollars and 2 years invested into this thing, on a silicone hose.. Silicone hose will fail and you will have lost a lot of oil before you realize it. I have asked for a simple thing and it has been turned into a pissing contest. I would like some examples of steed speed t3 drain line.
