Mazda Delays New Mazda6 Diesel Till April 2014

Ha. Just as I predicted - it wouldn't see the USDM light of day until 2014, and wouldn't be in a 2014 model MZ6.

The wait continues.

Correct, which potentially mean a further wait for the engine to be introduced into the CX5

Yes, too bad because a SUV might be the logical application for diesel success in US market.

Regardless, Mazda will get some idea of diesel US sales viability via the Mazda6, when it finally arrives. The purchase price premium will be a big factor and is still unknown, these clean diesels are not cheap to build (impacting selling price) or maintain.

I would think this might have as much to do with the oil level issues Mazda has been having with the diesel in the rest of the world as with emmissions. I have to admit, I haven't paid that much attention to that issue as expressed by all of the Aussie and English owners on this and other forums, but I'm wondering if Mazda is determined to get whatever is causing the problem resolved before risking tarnishing their reputation in the US.

No matter the underlying cause, it is annoying.

In my excitement, I nearly committed to a gasoline, S-G 2014 MZ6.
I had to slap myself to re-recognize the importance of waiting for the oil burner.
