Resuming Playback with 2014 CX-5 GT Tech Stereo and other issues

I have the Touring, so the settings are not as extended as the GT. I just set them as I wanted them to be before I took the unit out. Really, why suffer with a crappy stereo when you don't have to?

Not sure if anyone had mentioned since I haven't been actively reading this thread. This past weekend I burned a mp3 cd and it "RESUMES" on the CD. I guess I'll be doing that in the time being.

Ditto here, been doing it since day 2 of ownership of my M6 in April. Still would like to see this fixed, though

Yeah it resumes on CD, but if your in the habit of buying songs from ITUNES and you must burn your songs through ITUNES to cd youll be extremly unhappy with the inconenience that each song is placed in a folder and you must manual select a folder, play a song, and when song is finished manually exit folder and select next folder to play another song because if you don't it will just keep repeating the same song over and over. I haven't played with ITUNES a whole lot to see if there is a feature to directly copy songs on a CD without adding folders like as if you are taking your hard drive stored MP3s and dragging them to burn on an empty disc but i think its highly irritating that you cant enjoy your store bought music any other way.

I no longer buy music from itunes. Instead I pay $10 a month to Spotify which allows me to download high bit rate songs to my phone, which I then stream over bluetooth to the stereo.

Works great.

I do that too and I am using Android more now, so BT is the only real option. Have you tried Spotify on a iPhone through the USB interface? I found it works sometimes, but most of the time it will play for a second then go back to the first track that is stored on the iPhone. I also tried clearing all track from my iPhone, figured I could just use Spotify. Well with no tracks I got a ipod error message. So scratch that.

MR wipe, did you try using bluetooth with the iphone + spotify instead of usb? If the device with bluetooth (i.e. the iphone) is capable of playing the songs then it should work. Bluetooth is a streaming audio format, the car just decodes and amplifies the sound. The phone/device does all the work. The car head unit has no idea what the original source is. I can't notice any difference between sound quality. Its true that bluetooth will degrade as the signal worsens, however within the car the distance is so short you should almost always have full signal.

Atitus, Yes I have, and it works pretty well. Steering wheel controls even let me advance tracks which is nice when I am playing a Spotify station. I also use it with the Nexus 4 I have and that works well, and with the most recent android version 4.3, it now displays song title and artist over BT, which it didn't do before. I'm not sure if the track button lets me advance. I agree, the sound quality is very acceptable and I've done comparisons using Spotify over BT and over USB. The difference is negligible. The only advantage I can see over USB is that the centerpoint speaker will function, it won't over BT. Although I don't think Centerpoint really adds anything, so no big deal. BT has been the way to go, I just feel USB should work as well, but not the end of the world. One cool thing when I rented a Ford Escape and used Spotify over USB on the iPhone was that the MyFord Touch would pick up the album art that Spotify had and displayed it on the screen. That was really cool. That being said, I don't look at the screen much when driving, so not a huge deal either, just a nice touch.

Thanks MrWipe, that is good to know. I was thinking of trying spotify, but I haven't yet. I don't have a large data plan on the phone so I would probably go for the spotify premium and save the songs offline.

Here's a (not) fun experience with my cx-5 this evening..

Got in the car with my wife and two young children. Waited for the iPod to be done loading (I have one that only has about 1 GB of music on it, so it doesn't take too long to load.) Went into the iPod menu, skipped past the playlist called "adult comedy" and selected the playlist called "Children's Music." I then selected the first song, and my ipod started to play.

Guess what my kids got to hear when the ipod started playing? A long string of F-bombs from a track from the "adult comedy" playlist.

I think it goes without saying that my wife was pissed at me. Several hours later, she at least saw the humor in it (I think) when she commented "If that was children's music, I never want to hear what passes as 'adult comedy.'"

Thanks, Mazda. I think it's time to write off the so-called "iPod support" in my car as non-existent and call a lawyer.
