Exhaust for my MSP..

I ordered one from corksport but they told me it would be ready to ship around january 2014.. i want it now!! lol but id rather have a vibrant or the perrin or whatever its called.. lol ive asked muffler shops to make me one but they all either said they dont bend pipes or they dont want to mess with a turbo car.. idk why?? lol but anyways just pm me if you have something. shipping would be to 45377

I have a full catless 3" exhaust with a borla muffler. Rear section is painted black for stealth look. Bolts right on with stock s and j pipe

Ausin13 You need to go to an import performance shop.are you trying to go 3in exhaust? Do u have an aftermarket downpipe? Be like me and go Borla. Oh yeah, be like that other guy too.

i blew my engine friday.. so im putting the exhaust on a hold till i get a new one.. lol but i went to a import performance shop here local and they were like we dont do custom exhausts.. and i was like okay.. and they asked why i wanted a 3inch exhaust.. and i said for the little it of performance itll give.. but also for the looks and the sound.. (i want something loud but not ricey.. just more deep) but he laughed and said that the smaller the exhaust the better performance i would get with a turbo.. i had no clue about any of this.. your opinion destineal?!? and i dont have a downpipe yet but i was going to purchase a pope one before my engine went..

Don't go back to that shop. Sorry to hear about your car. I'm on my 3rd motor. Working on getting the 2nd rebuilt.

so the smaller diameter is not exactly true? he said to try like a 2inch pipe... he told me most the sti that go in there only have about 2-2.5 inch pipes and just put huge mufflers on and thats what i should do.. (i know nothing about exhaust at all) and dang your third??? now im sorry to hear that! have you tried doing any of the forged internals on any of them?

That shop doesn't know what it's talking about. Essentially a turbo is forcing more air into your engine that would normally not be there which also means it's forcing more air out. If you stepped down in diameter it would be like me telling you that you need to breath twice as much air as your used to while at the same time I'm choking you. A little extreme but in the end the same concept, a smaller diameter exhaust is going to be a restriction. You could easily get a 2.25 or 2.5" and it would work fine with the factory set-up, 3" is definitely not needed.

Edit: Some one correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the MSP exhaust a 2.15" or something close to that?

I'm not saying to spend $800 on a custom set-up to get something under 2.5, if you're spending that kind of money get exactly what you want. What I was trying to get at is that he doesn't need an entire set-up to get the result he's after. Why spend a lot of money for a custom exhaust set-up when the end result he wants is a low and loud exhaust. It's minimal performance gains from an exhaust when you have no supporting mods esp. when you inlcude that he has a stock S and J. Spend $200 for a muffler you like and have it welded on, done deal! Same result 1/4 of the price.

lol i like that comparison! exactly what i was looking for though! well once i get my new motor and everything i will probably still go for a 3 inch exhaust just because i do plan on doing a ton to the car.. might as well pay once for something and maybe wont need it..

I'm honored! LOL, but if you have intention on doing a full build and upping the boost then definitely go for a 3" I just have seen people that get more than they'll ever utilize which in turn is a waste of money. Good luck on getting what you want.

lol good! and i appreciate it! im glad you all helped me because i was libbal to go get a 0.25 diameter exhaust since "smaller is better" lol jk.. but thank you to everyone who has helped! i wanna do a build thread once i get my new engine..

that is awesome! that was really close to me! i need someone around here to get a MSP.. i saw a guy driving around with a yellow one and a black hood two days ago.. but i didnt have my car so i think he just thought i was creeping.. i wish i knew who he was.. lol
