The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

*Help!*

Ok I have a 04 2.3 mazda 6i N/a, my connecting rod bearings an main bearings are shot an so is my crankshaft. I was wondering where can I buy a new crankshaft, rods, an valves for my car? The cams are still good. An will it be worth it if I do it, I know how to. Or should I say **** it an spend alittle more 2,000 on a remanufacutred engine? An I know ill need new oil pump an piston rings.. I Found a kit on Rockauto for 450 comes with that an even the pistons.

Shouldn't you be in bed Nate?

One or the other? Babies or testicles? I have testicles, I am not always in control of them but I know where they are and they are mine dammit! s***, I don't always have control of the babies either. I fail!

I'm off until Tuesday. Amber's b-day is today, Friday going to Cincinnati for Ikea and a Reds game. Saturday is going just south of Vanceburg, KY to meet some of my kin folk and see the old family farm. I've never been but I guess it's nice. Monday is Cedar Point, unless we decide to just be lazy.

I flogged a 5 in Colorado. I had a huge grin on my face while doing it. Mainly because the concept was that silly, and that the road was a lot of fun... but still.

I just saw these. No sane person knowingly wants a FD RX-7.

Not if they really know what they are getting into, which not many people ACTUALLY understand what that means. Sure they are sexy, but FC's are cheaper to purchase/maintain and are just about the same fun, and you aren't hassled all the time by ricers.

its interesting but almost annoying to watch. What I would do to get my hands on an FD

If someone wanted a reliable RX-7 I'd point them to a '84-'85 GSL-SE. But yeah, FD's are just too expensive to buy, too expensive to maintain, and too expensive to modify. That's also ignoring the fact that everything breaks on them and the stock engine is guaranteed to go between 50K and 100K miles.

Unless one was to swap in some V8 love, but that completely ignores the purpose of a RX7.

Anyways, I'm still having trouble finding a stupid ball joint.

I'm surprised one hasn't popped up on eBay or car-part.com. I'd check there first. There are several RX-7 used parts stores. Regarding your question on the other forum I have no idea if the S4 and S5 front lower control arms are the same (sans replaceable ball joint). if you don't mind me asking what happened to your stock ball joint that requires its replacement?

I almost bought Fabio's FC, but I just didn't fit. I love how they look.

FC's aren't bad but for being a "small car" they're quite large. It's funny to trace Mazda's history with the RX-7. SA/FB's were small, light, reliable, and handled well, but were underpowered (solid rear axle too :(). The FC's made good power and were reliable, but were too large and got "softer." Then FD's were powerful and had excellent handling, but were too expensive and unreliable. There really should have been a Miata coupe with a naturally aspirated 13B...

I almost don't fit in mine. If it wasn't for the sun-roof, I wouldn't fit.

I really wish mine didn't have the sunroof. There's actually more headroom in the non-sunroof cars because the sunroof assembly requires the headliner to be lowered about an inch. The sunroof is about where the headliner is on a non-sunroof car.

Speaking of FC's. A guy came to Superfly this past sunday with a VERY clean '88 FC 'Vert for sale. $4k with about 120k-ish miles? He went over every typical FC problem, and showed both Sho and I how it was fixed, and that it was fixed. If anyone would be interested hit me up, I have his contact info. He bought the FC, then bought dat rock and has to pay for a wedding, so the FC has to go.

Not sure, probably that it has 17x,xxx miles on it, and its my DD. Its loose a bit, and I want to get it replaced before I put tires on the front, before winter.
