Road America

I'm glad you chimed in. The SCCA does pay for each class would works out for me, more track time and part of the cost of a set of tires I will tear up. There is a 2 hour break between STL and B-Spec so I should be able to run both without much of a problem. I think I will only do the easy to swap bolt on since I am there to win the B-Spec race.

Thats the spirit. It will just be a shame if you don't actually crown a champion due to not hitting the minimum car count. And B-Spec bringing up a distant last in participation for the year. Sure glad they killed SSC for this (I say as our SSC car collects dust because it is an also ran in T4). :( The good news is next year you can start developing some more go fast parts and move up to H Prod. ;)

B-Spec is a weird one. I was drawn to is by being able to run pro events and club with the same car which lets me run elbows with the pros (I guess it makes me a pro as well, lol) on any weekend and I enjoy driving and racing the 2. With the cars being new I bet the class will be kept around for a while longer before they give up on it.

So far there are 7 cars signed up in B-Spec for the runoffs and there is over a month to go until the cutoff. I bet we get over 10 cars (better than the 3 last year)

Are you still going to be loving it on Aug 30th when you have to add another 100lbs to your car? Nice of them to give you that right before the Runoffs. This is on top of the 50lbs you just got a few months ago. http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/assets/TB 13-09 prelim.pdf I wonder which Mini will win. ;)

Time to do an engine swap on that BS over-dog and run STL, or join me in HP.

Strip the car out; then add weight? Don't the rulemakers make a lot of sense. Could just add the safety equipment, and suspension changes & treat it like an old Showroom Stock. Drive it to the track and home again.

You are not required to "strip the car out", it is simply an allowance. The weight is a performance adjustment, the Mazda 2 seems to be beating up on everyone in WC BS, so the Club guys get to share the joy.

Yeah, I am thrilled, yippie. I am already way under weight as is. I think I might see about getting some 1 inch steel plate sections to bolt to the floor to get me up an extra 100lbs on top of the 50. You dont think the fit will have enough straight line speed to win it again over the mini?

I wonder if I can protest.

I wonder how fast I can get a maxed out STL engine together. I looked up the weight and I would be minimum around 1950 lbs which would really make that car fast.

I doubt you could get it done in STL with the 1.5li, you need to swap in something bigger. To win STL you need to go faster than me (HProd) without slicks, without the close ratio trans at about the same weight and power. The front running STL cars make 185-200hp.

I think Davis will be hard to beat.

Even if you wrote a letter and tried to fight the weight I don't think you could get it changed before the Runoffs. Did you get the new Mazda BS reflash?

I have the re-flash already, maybe we will just have to 4 car wreck him out on accident...... (for those of you reading this and not trolling SCCA.com there are four Mazda 2s signed up for the runoffs currently)

I did a test at Thunderhill this past weekend with the 2 and the extra weight. The 2s are going to get killed at RA.

I noticed in the FasTrack today that the listing from the prelim was not carried over. At least you should be able to see the back of Davis now. (rlaugh)

Gee thanks on the vote of confidence there, lol

I was being cheap and ran a set of BFG R1 which where over a year old for the whole weekend at buttonwillow. Our Honda friends were running new R1s tires for the races. I am not going to have a problem at RA.

The 100lbs was the one thing I was worried about keeping me from the front of the pack for the race and that is cleared up now so I am right where I want to be.

Good Luck at the Runoffs. I will be there with my father. He runs SRF#29. I'm also a corner worker so try not to pay me a visit.

Ah your no fun! There are some track where cutting corners can give the workers something extra to look at. Locally there is a track called the ridge and we would cut the corner and put the car up on two wheels.

Do you know where you will be in the paddock?

Thanks
Derrick

We are down by the inside of 14 at the end of the paved road. I will personally be there Thursday-Sunday alternating between crew and corners.

I know how the 2's can be. I was at COTA for V8 supercar / world challenge weekend and at the esses we almost had a 2 go over after taking the curbing and doing some two wheeling for a while. Good times.
