Another Coilover Thread

or Poster. But yeah, I find it kind of weird that BC coilovers are available in the UK, but not in the US/Canada? For our car

BC are a great option, just not aware they were already out for the 2. last time I checked 5 months ago they were not. The good thing about them you can order them with custom spring rate and valving.

Andres
;)

Thing is that they aren't in the international web site but in the uk they are in the catalog maybe a year or more as a friend of mine have them for almost a year now.

Best long term solution on a budget would be the corksport struts & corksport springs (you get a discount with both). With never having lowered a car before and no intentions (atleast not posted) of racing you'll have less gap and a fairly comfy ride that you can adjust to your liking. Springs should last you forever and the struts can be replaced easily when needed.

Unless you are racing or need to go super low, coil overs are over kill IMHO.

The shock itself, to see if there's more adjustment range (threading) than my KSports have. Plus, I want to see how it actually looks like, for the Mazda 2! Not the generic picture on websites and such.

^ yup.

Actually just getting a set of eibach springs and calling it a day might be all you need. You may be surprised at how much your driving style needs to change when you start loosing significant amounts of ground clearance.

Im leaning toward the ST's after reading up on them. I like that i would be able to adjust to height for winter and summer with these.

Now what would i need from the old strut assembly that needs to be put on the coilover?

Just the tops, and the lower strut bolts. If you want to have adjustable camber, you'll want to pick up a pair of camber bolts for the front prior to the install.

probably because the 2 has been out in the UK since 2007! :D

Well yes I know, and the 2 has been out even before that, in it's early gen spec. But since the Suspension design is the same, I'm assuming, for 2007 and up, it's weird that BC Racing didn't have their coils available for the North American Market. It's a head scratcher for sure.. in my case lol

So I was looking into just going with springs and struts from corksport but after checking it out, with shipping my price comes out to 862, shipping costing more then the springs. For that price itll be less to go with the coilovers. Im looking at getting my coilovers from thmotorsports.

Did you put in next day shipping, or something? When I put those in the shopping cart and get a shipping quote it puts the total at $601 for me, and I live further away from them than you.

I guess there was something going on with there site since it seemed to be down last night. Now this morning it let me back on and the shipping quotes are different. Ill be looking at 671 shipped with there h&r springs and there struts. For 775 shipped i can get the ST coilovers. Decisions, decisions...

If you went with the CorkSport springs instead of the H&R then you get a $60 discount (plus, they're already $20 cheaper). All told you should be able to pick them up shipped for under $600. Not telling you what to do, but just giving you options.

i like options and I thought about that, but im not that big of a fan of how the rear sits lower then the front. I really like how the h&r springs sit through.

Get the st coilovers as they are a great coilovers. Can't beat the price and build quality. You will regret the spring and strut combo and end up purchasing coils in the long run. Coilovers are not over kill for sure thy are adjustable and some dampening adjustable to adjust for the street and track. I have owned just about every coilovers in the past, bilstein pss10 were the best by far and I had them installed for 100k miles on my last vw. You will not be happy with the height of springs if you are looking into coilovers. I would say to go ST coils or h&r
