well i would try and find a msp that has some engine modifications. but even if i dont, i have plenty of parts that will carry over and i dont really wanna let them go haha. and my dad has a 2.3 liter 5 spd mazda3 and its nowhere near as quick as my car which makes about the same power as an msp. i could transfer over my intercooler, intake, hard pipes, bov and recirc, midpipe, exhaust, and SSFTC. that would give me a nice increase right from the start

I would never buy an msp with engine mods. The one I bought had a cai and dumb exhaust. There were others that had many mods. Its just you never know what youre buying with mods. I'd buy a yugo. Just gots to be careful. Even Evan was weary of a cai and exhaust. he's more anal than most though :p

MS3's are overrated. I love my MS6 but I still think Protege's handle better.

edit- haha, I just realized I made a huge hypocrite post. I bought the MS6 already lightly modded. However, I knew the car was stock when Jake bought it and Jake knows what he's doing so I felt comfortable buying a modded car. If I didn't know the owner I would be very weary of buying a modded car.

The black P5 was an amazing deal and again, I knew the previous owner took very good care of it. But I always planned on swapping the motor anyway.

MS3's are more refined overall and just about perfect in stock form for a decently fun DD. It does alot of things well and over all balance is good. It's not going to out handle the MSP, but it will pull away on the straights.

for a track car I'd take the MSP but for a reliable dd I'd take a MS3
 
Someone help me. You have a MSP but you want a MSP? Or was this the car that didn't run or something?
 
No, for ajkulish. I see "supercharged protege" under his name. Are we talking about going from a SC protege to a turbo mazdaspeed protege or did I miss something in all these acronyms lol

nope you got it, going from a SC protege to an MSP as an option instead of a rx-8
 
I have an 01 ES and its just not holding up so well and time to go. I want to fix it up a bit and sell it and buy a newer, lower mileage, MSP and transfer some of my current parts over to that car.

I would love an MS3 but idk if i can swing the cash for it,
 
Speaking of selling Proteges, I'm contemplating selling my 92lx and 00lx and buying a lower mileage ES as a daily. And as far as the MS3 vs MSP I have also owned both. The Protege is more agile being lighter. The MS3 has a lot more potential as far as power goes and the torque just blows the MSP away. My modded MSP was only as fast as a stock MS3 and I had it at about the limit for stock internals. MS3s I hear are good for 400 HP on stock internals. The MS3 handles great, and I'm sure has lots of mechanical grip, but its just not as light on its toes as a Protege.

I swear everything on the miata takes twice as long as I anticipate it will lol. >:O

How much you asking for the Protege? My Dad needs a car bad and he has very little to spend. I am trying to steer him towards a Mazda but he is weary*. Could you post a link to the craigslist ad.
 
Must be nice weather this weekend ... no posting, so everyone outside with spring fever? We are on 80wb in pa about 5 hours from home. Had a nice weekend back in new yawk and new Jersey ... now heading back to reality : ) happy Cinco de Mayo everyone! We'll pick up some negro modelos when we get home and some Mexican food for dinner.
