oil change must be performed

Hi. Just wondering if anyone have gotten the message in the info panel that says something like "oil change must be performed"(translated from Norwegian). I have apx 10 000 km or 6200 miles on the odometer. Any idea why this suddenly appears, as I thought the intervall was 20000 km(that's what the dealer said)?

Should I not keep driving until i have changed the oil, or could I just keep on doing so until the shop opens on monday?

Sorry for the ignorance, but my last car was an audi a4 -02 mod. I't didn't inform me much with these kinds of messages (dark)

I would check your oil level, perhaps it is too high.

Or it could be how the service prompt is set up by the dealer.

I assume you are up to speed with the oil rise issue as documented in this link PREMATURE ENGINE OIL RISE

Mine needed to be replaced at just under 6,000 miles as it crept up to the mark, and initially I had to pay, but after discussion with Mazda they have authorised a refund.

Suggest you take a look at the dip-stick and then decide where you are going with this, but don't just ignore it.

Thanks for the heads up in the oil level rise issue. I have read about it but haven't had i problem with it yet. Should go out and check if it is a problem now. Thanks!

This is kind of embarrasing, but it seems I've set the service prompt by my self. It was set at 10 000 km, (smash) and acording to the info panel, 450 km remains before it hits the 10K mark. So I guess it's warning me that the service prompt is coming up. The oil level was within the normal range. Sorry for the newbie-question, but thanks for good hints on what it could be. :)
