So my car was burning oil at a steady rate and had all the symptoms of bad valve seals, white smoke at start up, low oil, etc. I've since changed the valve seals and even contributed to the HOW-TO on it http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...-1-8-(non-turbo)-valve-stem-seals-replacement

If you take a look at that how-to you can see I posted pics of the new seals and the old ones, so changing it definitely helped. I still get a little smoke at start up but not as much as it used to be before I changed the seals. I hasn't even been a month since I changed my oil (2/22) and today at start up my stock oil light was on, and sure enough the dip stick was bone dry, so I basically burned through 3 qts of oil in 3 weeks. How is that even possible? I have ABSOLUTELY NO external leaks, I park in my driveway so I'd see engine oil everywhere on the ground if that was the case. Could it be I did my valve seals wrong? I just removed the old ones and stuck on the new ones. Did I need to put gasket sealant on them before I put them into place or something like that? What else could be making my engine drink through so much oil?

NM, I think I solved the mystery of the missing oil.....FML........

well go ahead, shoot me offers if you have a replacement turbo I can take off ya.

The turbo might not be bad. It may be coming from the pvc. Do you have the stock Ic still going or are you FMIC. Also Does your valve cover breather feed into your intake pipe?

he has a fmic and beleave he has the breader does feed to his intake his car also smokes at startup and he did his valve seals already

YOu might need a catch can. From what I have seen blown turbo seals doesn't show up on the intake side of the turbo but more of the exhaust side. I could be totally wrong but i'm pretty sure its on the charge pipe side.

I got a 2860rs if you are interested in that.
Thanks, already jumped on a rebuilt T25 for a nice price.

I doubt it, a while back I added a Millenia PVC. Also when I had the intake off, I spooled the turbo and the oil was coming out of it. Oil can come out of either hot or cold side, cold in my case.

I'm curious as to where you got this "rebuilt" T25? Was it an OE unit or a journal bearing T25?

and my car is my daily, this is just to replace my OE turbo, comes with a 3 month warranty, it's fine for what it is

I'd still see if you have any positive pressure in your valve cover. But time will tell, if this new turbo doesn't fix your oil issues, I'd look into getting a catch can.

No, I don't think a catch can will solve my issues of loosing a quart of oil a week. I appreciate your input, but it's not a minor issues. I already changed my valve seals thinking that would be it, and it did solve my 'white smoke in the morning' problem. I also changed the PVC to the Millenia supercharged one. It's definitely the turbo, as the pictures show.

Hey were you getting boost while this was going on cuz I am having the same problem but I have no boost at all

^^you're losing massive amounts of oil, but its not leaking noticeably from anywhere, and you have no boost? Pretty certain the turbo bearing is no longer in your car, and the turbine isn't spinning...i.e. turbo is toast...

I still boost, the tubro still technically "works" but I just drain a lot of oil when I use it. I've since installed an oil pressure gauge to keep track of how much oil the engine has and I don't use the turbo at all or if I kick it in a few times I just make sure I still have good oil pressure. I'll be installing a T25 soon.
