The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

finally broke down and bought new headlights... my lenses have just gotten to the point of no return, ive fixed them and bought time by sanding and reaclearing, then using headlight restoration kits, but im tired of dealing with that so a new set it is

Good news for anyone who wanted to do Mid-O and either couldn't commit in such short time or is now out of luck because June 10th is full.... They've added another mid-o day on Labor Day, September 2nd. Is anyone interested enough to start another thread?

There will also be a Dyno day. Teehee

That's a maybe...hmmm

Morning all

I always wanted to get a custom plate for the 2002 (if it ever made it to the street) that said FEO2. No one would get it, but that's ok because most people are ******* morons.

LMAO...that would have been great.

I feel your pain. Mine are hazed to s*** and after washing/waxing the car this weekend I wanted to take a BFH to them. Didn't have time to use the restoration kit for the upteenth time since I had to go into work. But had this kit recommended to me....supposed to be much better since you apply the UV film back to the lenses. Figure for $10 I'll try it out and if it works, might invest the money for new lights into a retrofit.

mine are WAY beyond saving at this point.... they look OK for like 2 weeks to a month after using a headlight restoration kit then back to this crap
it was just time to replace them... hated to spend so much damn money on the headlights but i had to do what i had to do... my fogs light up almost as much of the road as the headlights have been lately :/

the "good one"

Mine will look decent for a couple of months after using the kit so hoping they aren't beyond saving yet. Don't blame ya for breaking down and spending the money on new ones. Hope they aren't as ridiculously priced as P5 lights. Then again, I always look at those with the black housings which have a nice mark-up.

well my brother is a giant **** tard that doesn't understand market value vs. appraisal value so no house for me. At least probably not this year.

they are ******* expensive, i feel like i made out like a bandit at 240 for a set of OEM "slightly used" headlights..

its 350-400 for a pair of aftermarket replacements, and OEM replacements from onlinemazdaparts 700 a pop!!!!!

Damn, sorry to hear Nate.

Well s***, hook me up with some P5 lights! haha That is a pretty good deal though. Pricing is right on par for aftermarket and OEM replacments.

When I bought a set of brand new headlights for the 2 it was almost $500 even, and that was with the parts guy giving me a discount :( ridiculous!

Why don't you guys that buff your headlights take them to a shop and get them automotive clearcoated?? That should make them last longer....

Jeff, you can buy the eBay Depo lights for sedans (~$70 each IIRC) and swap the lenses with yours then sell the housing to someone doing a retrofit.

Update on the tire balancer and mounting machines. I checked them both out this Sunday, the balancer turns on and seems to work okay, but I'm no expert. The mounting machine uses pneumatics and couldn't get hooked up so I'm not sure if it will work. But the owner said $250 for the balancer and my friend talked him into giving me the mounting machine with the balancer.

I'm not positive the mounting machine will mount low-profile tires, but the price is right to give it a try. I am planning on picking them up this weekend.

my old ones are WELL beyond buffing saving them, something got on them and legit ****** them, they have delaminated and are oxidized and on top of that drivers side has tons of heat or stress cracks????... its had those cracks for like 2 years, but they have gotten ALOT worse in the last year,

the passenger side i MIGHT have been able to save and bring back but asking my buddy that owns a body shop, he said he wasnt even sure buffing and reclearing would help but didnt think that it would fix them, he agreed they are too far gone to be completely saved, so grabbing 2 for 240 shipped i just said screw it

this set lasted 9 years, the car is an 05 and i did open the headlights a couple times and i did run eyelids and other stuff that im sure didnt exactly help...
if the ones i bought last 9 years then i think they will outlive this car haha

Evan I will show you how to use the tire machine if you need me to, I have mounted tires before.

Marc, Will and I are just talking about that and wondering if there was someone in the crew who knows how that can teach us. You're the man, baby!
