Ebay Exhaust

Is Mazda the only place I can find the gaskets or can I order them online somewhere?
Can I get a part number please

Do they have one that is already cut? I'm not too sure I understand what I need to do with the gasket, it goes between the midpipe and end of the catback, right?

i just ordered my ebay catback, http://www.ebay.com/itm/370722801283?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 only $125

I know I'm going to hate the 4" tip and want to replace the muffler with magnaflow, but I have only seen magnaflow mufflers with a 4" tip as well!
Can anyone let me know about a good muffler with a non-canon tip?

Also, if I should buy better gaskets

Been following this thread ever since its origin. Definitely like this rolled tip one better than the one that's just cut and unfinished. Please post pics after it's installed and any feedback. May just pick one up myself.

Will do, I'm (im)patiently waiting for it to come in, should be here by monday or tuesday next week, I'll install it on the nicest day we have next week (hopefully we get a fluke 50+ degree day haha)

Great...thanks! Hope the install goes smoothly for you. Are you gonna get some gaskets from your local auto parts store as well?

Even though the rolled tip is better, 4" is just way too big and ghastly for the P5. I think a 3" rolled tip would be great. Anyone find a good tip for these ebay mufflers yet? Pics

Mine came in today and I got it on. Hardly any problems getting it on, had to take the mid pipe off the car to get the bolts out of the flange but besides that she dropped right in. The welds are not the greatest. Being a tig welder my self I look at every thing with a microscope so I may just being little anal. Little bit of rub on the pipe over the rear cross member, just needs a little adjustment and she'll be golden. The sound is awesome, not much louder then stock, no drone, just nice and deep. I will say when you do this, start the car up with no catback on and hear the that is our engine. Sounds just like a Subaru with equile length headers on it.

All in all I'm very happy with this and would highly recommend it.

Which gaskets did you wind up using? Glad the install went smoothly for you.

I used the gaskets that came with the kit. They look ok to me, thin metal sheets with something sandwiched in between them. Maybe the people that have got this exhaust in the past can chime in on whats there's looked like.

I didnt take many photos but here are some. And as weird as it may sound I kind of like the big 4 inch tip. It fits perfect in the cut out of the rear bumper(photo 3).

Thanks for posting pics. Hopefully zackmac will post pics of the rolled tip version so we can compare.

Glad the gaskets worked for ya. No exhaust leaks?

Looks real nice! Mine is expected to come Friday the 8th, but I have a feeling it'll be here by wednesday, either way I'll have it installed by next weekend and we will see!

That tip looks good timuhai. I recently had a Mazdaspeed Miata tip welded on to my stock P5 muffler and that little mod made a noticeably good difference IMO. Not too big, and not as small as the stocker :-)

No problem.

I dont really know yet, havent been able to drive her. After I put the exhaust on I rotated the tires and got a shake in the front end. All the shops were closed and I had work from 5:30am to about 5pm today, so I had my dad bring it to the shop and get the tires balanced. Im going to take it for a drive tonight and I'll get under her when its running and see.

So I do have a very small leak where the catback and the mid pipe meets. When the old catback came off the flange on the mid pipe was rusted. Like Brian_K has said the factory gaskets are not like the ones that come with the ebay kit. The one I found was a copper ring that sat in a grove on the flange. When I saw the rust I knew that had to come out so it got hit with a wire wheel brush. However, the grove is still there. I think the solution will ether be have the ring and the kit gasket on, or make the mid pipe flange smooth. Will let you know what happens.

just came in today, freshly opened. we also got a foot of snow today, so install will be delayed
