The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

If she's looking at a Golf, tell her to spend a little bit more and get a GTI.

She had a boner for this 2003 GTi VR6 in VA but dragged her feet and the dealership sold it. I'm staying out of it because she get's all girly and wishy-washy about buying a car. She basically wants something "cute" regardless of how reliable it is. I'm the complete opposite, I've got the Milly which is god ugly, but reliable as hell. Her dad is a hot rod guy and he wants her to buy domestic, I want her to buy Japanese and she wants German. Haha.

didn't she learn from the first German experience? That car will be a money pit in the future
She didn't learn her lesson the first time with the TT, Peaches. Go figure. She loves replacing timing belts...

I mean, if I had $11k to spend on a car I'm sure I could fine something really nice, even if it did need a little work. But she's so picky it's best for me to keep my mouth shut so I don't get in trouble. haha

She should totally get a new Speed3! Do you expect a brand new car to have turbo problems? I had 100k on my Speed3 and not one hint of any problems with the turbo. Is she only looking for used stuff?

As far as the Brew Kettle tonight... Codex, Marlon, Lauri, Tom, Phen, Jess, Evan, Tessa. Am I missing anyone?

No new cars, $11k max.

Head count for dinner tonight;

Codex (Anthony)
Marlon
Lauri
Tom
Phen
Jess
Evan
Tessa
Jake
Patrick (possibly)
Will
Alison

Marc and Linda are out, Marc is working a lot, Ivan/Cara are in C-bus and V/Sanja are helping a friend move.

$11k makes it tough to get into a Speed3 that doesn't have a lot of miles. A regular 3 hatch though would be easily doable.

I'll call up to the Brew Kettle when they open and see if I can get a reservation for tonight at 7.

Morning. And Phen speaks the truth....buying a veedub...get the extended warranty!!!!

LMAO at the lane passing comments. They must have NJ plates or be transplants. :)

Snowing like crazy here but it's not sticking to the roadways...yet. And Tam and I are going grocery shopping tonight. (gah)

3 years and 45k miles on our Jetta TDI. I can only think of one issue that manifested itself in the first year and was covered by the standard warranty...

TDi's are special beasts. My Rabbit diesel was awesome. My GTi was a money pit.

I wouldn't mind driving a TDI. Especially with 40+ mpg on the highway. It'd be great to not have to fill my tank 1-2 times per week.

I thought 5 was the prequel

In the 3rd movie (Tokyo Drift) Han is introduced and dies later in the movie in the horrible FD crash (tear), but is alive in the later ones. At some point they all split up and Han goes to Tokyo to bang some Asian bitches.

I'm going to have to watch them in that order to see if it all makes any kind of since now.

But you guys have to keep in mind you bought your cars brand new, this car will be used and I'll be the one that has to work on it. :/

I thought that was a rather clever way to keep the Tokyo Drift movie part of the series as a whole. They could make a bunch of movies and Tokyo Drift will always be the last one.

if my memory serves me correctly the chronological order goes

1. the fast and the furious
2. 2 fast 2 furious
4. fast and furious
5. fast five
3. tokyo drift

Until they introduce the main character into a newer F&F movie that takes place after that point. Then it will all be confusing, but I'll probably still watch them.

the only one that is really out of order is tokyo drift... put that AFTER fast 5 and watch all 5 and the whole plat makes sense

^^^This....but what now with 6 and spying Letty in the last scene of the trailer pulling a gun? Guess she pulled a Frankenstein and ejected prior to "being killed" in 4?

I'm glad they're bringing her back. Should be a fun twist, I wish they hadn't showed it in the previews though. Would've made for a better surprise in the theater.

So I think that the new one is also going to take place before the events in Tokyo Drift. Or maybe Han comes back from Japan to help out with this, but before he dies?

When I saw the trailer during the Superbowl, inside I felt like a giddy school girl, outside I was like 'cool'. I don't know what it is about those movies that makes me so excited... lol I think nostalgia has a part to do with it.
