The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I love the seats in that 6. And yes, the new 6 in general is beautiful.

That much sexiness starting at $21,000 with a 6 speed manual transmission, how could you not love it.

The genpu 3 has definitly grown on me, but I like it better than the gen one 3 anyway. I love the new 6 but like the versatility & function of a hatchback more. With no wagon version (probably out of my price range anyway) that leaves the 3 in the Mazda family. The 2 is too small.

My list of potential new cars:
Mazda 3 - decked out skyactiv is same price as a speed, hmmm
VW GTI - less power, more refined, less "trunk" space
WRX - pretty much can only afford the base model

Off the list:
Focus ST - no back seat space
Golf TDI - Skyactiv3 can get pretty close to same mpg's at a $1 less a gallon, Gas engine Golf sucks.
anything Hyundai or Kia - nuff said

That's all the hatches I can think of. Of course going used might allow for cars with more options etc but I also don't want a car that's been beat on

The "happy face" grill on the new 3's take a bit of getting used to. I had more issues with the integrated dash and how the screens were located above by the windshield. I'm getting used to the interior though. Next on the list is prolly an OEM style spoiler. But that won't be till the spring.

Next on the list should be changing you advatar :) THe interfooler makes me shake my head every time.

the mazda dealership near me has a red one on the floor. I might have to rethink the whole hatchback thing... They wouldn't let me take pics but did find out the touring trim also has manual available!

The Import store always get off-lease used GTIs all the time. And if you go VW, make sure it's a CPO.

When's the interfooler going in??

Got good news today. My 6 week lay-off from work will be followed by a 6 week medical leave for a broken leg. I did good, broke my tibia and fibula (both bones in the lower leg). It gives me more time to be stir crazy.

Holy crap, Larry! What happened? I would say I hope you feel better soon but doesn't sound like that's gonna happen anytime soon...

Jake saved the day! came over after my car was running odd and ran some codes for me and figured it out. Felt dumb because my turbo inlet pipe wasn't attached to my turbo for some reason. But I was freaking out.

Were you doing something to the car?

Larry sorry to hear about your leg, I hope the healing process goes well for you. On the bright side, if I were you I'd rather do something like that in the winter when there's less stuff to get outside and do.

Yes, my Girlfriend got me an oil catch can for christmas so I was putting it in and I snapped my PCV valve and I called Jake and he had one so I got that from him then I got my car all back together and it was idling really weird like bouncing between 500-1000. So Jake came over to look at it and saw that I was running lean and then he started trouble shooting. Learned a lot so I can check on stuff myself next time. Because knowing me there will be a next time.

ouch! sorry about your leg Larry.
Thanks!

daaaayyyyyummm!!! sorry to hear larry, is the injury going to require surgery?

Larry, no means no!

Thanks guys. Better now than in the summer I suppose. As far as how it happened, I was walking in a friends driveway and my foot slipped backward on some ice and I basically sat on my foot (heel up). I heard it pop. I managed to get up and go back inside and report the damage to Jen. She was unimpressed. Today I went to see an orthopaedist who told me the tibia break is offset and he is giving me the option to do surgery or not. I go back on friday for him to get another x-ray and talk about it. Here is a question for you guys. Have any of you had a broken bone, and did you have the option/get surgery? Any suggestions for me?

Damn... what exactly does the surgery involve?

I've had a couple of phalanges, the metacarpal for my pinky, and wrist broken (not at the same time, 3 different incidents). The phalanges and metacarpal they just pulled to adjust and reset, metacarpal was pretty bad so that one really hurt. My wrist needed surgery, they had to put me under so they could break it again in order to set it properly, didn't have to cut. They had to do that twice since my cast was loose after the first time and it got unset. I had to learn how to write again, which too a while, and I still can't write with my left hand.

I'm guessing your surgery would be something similar, break the bone where its offset and set it right, but I'm having a hard time picturing how they would do that on the tibia... especially waiting so long. When did this happen?
