I heard or read that the 2.5L engine will only be offered on AWD models. Anyone confirm this? I was hoping for a FWD GT 2.5. Ed
I've read that the 2.0 will still be available for the touring and gt though. Sorry if this is common knowlege, havent read every post.
Ive heard both. That the 2.0 will be available in T and GT, and that it wont. Hopefully we can find out before the 2013s are gone.
From the press release: "The SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter gasoline engine and SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission are standard fare on Touring models."
And the press release does not mention any engine related changes when talking about the Grand Touring trim.
Seems quite clear to me. If you want the 2.0 L, get it soon.
Hi, I'm new.
I was ready to go test drive - and likely buy - a CX-5 GT with nav this week, until I read about the 2014 coming out.
See this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHBCZFFWHSA around the 50 - 56 second time frame. the GT and Touring will only have the 2.5L engine - according to this rep from Mazda at the LA Auto show.
I probably don't need the 2.5, but I see there will be updates to navigation - and I am hoping that might mean Garmin instead of Tom Tom? Does Tom Tom have the traffic feeds? Also looking for Pandora built in.
I'm curious to see just how much quicker the 2.5L is.
My understanding of the press release is that T and GT will come with 2.5L and this engine will be paired only with AT. The Sport trim will come only with the 2.0L.
Yes, I am planning to take the family + skiing gear up the Sierra and would like the extra power. I think its only up to 8500 ft, but I can certainly feel it with my current naturally aspirated vehicle. Granted, for regular commuting there seems to be only the disadvantage of unnecessary additional cost. I guess the non-abstemious among us, who would not get the Sport trim anyway, will get the 2.5L as a package deal, unless we act quickly.
